Tom - Your jack is too tall to fit under the car if you get a flat. The jack I have is 5.75 inches when made as low as possible. I had a flat on the right rear and it was not even close to fitting. My jack has an "extension" from the top of the scissor to the contact point that adds a good 2.5 inches to the jack height. Without this I suspect it would fit when a tire is flat.

With the 200 mile range it's not an ENERGI, but it was still good to see this on the puzzle page of today's newspaper.

Frank - Were you rewelding your broken Volvo seatback frame? For the C-Max seatback frame recall it appears they are replacing the seatback frames that have bad welds.

Ashley - I just read over the relevant pages in the 3rd printing of the manual. They don't answer the question. I have had the same thing occur in my C-Max. I drive with the AC off. I park and turn the car off for a while. I get back in the car and restart, and the AC comes on with the fan at full blast. Or, I have the AC off and I turn the climate system off before I turn the car off. I restart the car and turn the climate system back on and the AC comes on with the fan at full blast. I don't remember all the combinations. I have found that turning the climate system back on by pressing one of the fan buttons seems to avoid having the AC come on and keeps the fan speed where it last was. I don't use the AUTO setting for my climate system, but I wonder under some conditions it goes to AUTO by itself, senses a high cabin temp from the care being parked in the sun and goes into AC with high fan speed. Mostly I consider the AC part of this an annoying quirk so long as I catch it before I get frozen and before it depresses my mpg. The high fan speed is more annoying to me because it is an unexpected loud noise.

MichaelM - Thanks for the update. I was hoping the replacement would be an entire new seatback with fresh clean upholstery. I'm not surprised that it's the frame only because an entire seatback must be very expensive. I wonder how good the service techs will be at removing and reinstalling the upholstery?

HannahWCU Welcome back to the forum. It's good to have more NC owners active. Under what conditions and for how long are you getting full EV mode above 62mph? I had the update done almost a year ago. I think I have seen full EV mode above 62mph, but I feel that it has been for very brief moments and not that often.

Tom - What jack did you get to go with your spare? The first jack I got was from an Escape. I learned the hard way that it was too tall to slide under the car when a tire is flat. I still need to get another jack to go with my donut spare (which performed flawlessly after AAA put it on for me). Dave

Absolutely correct, it is an option. I am so used to having it that I forgot it's not standard equipment (at least not until May 2018).

I know the problem is with the seat back frames. What I want to know is if you have a bad seat back frame do they replace the entire seat back (i.e. the frame and the upholstery) OR do they replace the frame and reuse the original upholstery?

Does anyone know whether the replacement parts in this recall are internal (e.g., seat frame) parts only or entire upholstered seat backs?

MtnMarty - Sorry to hear you are having signs of trouble during a road trip. fotomoto had some good suggestions. If you were in Cambridge you could have Click and Clack look at your car. Their usual suggestion when you get tired of seeing the glow of the check engine light is a piece of black electrical tape.

If you lived in the city, would they have told you it was rats? While they have your car they should check all of the other known causes of 12v battery failure - water pump, shifter, water in wiring connectors, etc. - you will find them all in the various 12v battery threads.
