My 2014 SE has what sounds like a low pinch gear whine coming from the front end. It may have been there when we bought it new in 2014. Maybe it's tire noise. Maybe I notice it more now because of all the post about transmission problems in the C-Max. My question is, If the transmission is taken out of drive and put into neutral while coasting should the whine stop if it is the transmission?

Purchased new in Sept 2014 C-Max Hybrid SE. 122000 miles, 75% city, 25% highway. Had the RH lower control arm replaced under warranty at 20000 miles. No other major problems. All routine maintenance done by self. Drained and refilled transmission fluid at 90000 miles. Fluid looked good and no metal shavings.
