  1. Ruining the supplied air compressor blew my 12v fuse. Center console. Maybe I should use the rear 12v

Per my owners manual, 3rd printing (emphasis mine):

The [110V] power point is not designed for electric devices such as:

Motor loads, such as vacuum cleaners, electric saws and other electric

    power tools, compressor-driven refrigerators, etc.

    ....

  2. Hi. Am I missing something here. Why do it yourself. Go to Ford site and find this coupon:

THE WORKS™ VEHICLE CHECKUP, $39.95 or less.

    • Synthetic Blend Oil Change

    • Tire Rotation and Pressure Check

    • Brake Inspection

    • Multi-Point Inspection

    • Fluid Top-Off

    • Battery Test

    • Filter Check

    • Belts and Hoses Check

Up to five quarts of Motorcraft® oil and oil filter. Taxes, diesel vehicles and disposal fees extra. Hybrid battery test excluded. See participating dealership for exclusions and details. So tire rotation and all the other extras for less than $39. When I had the last oil change they saw seepage but didn't know from where so they added the dye. No charge and I have 48K on the car. Took it back a couple weeks later and they checked the dye and found it was rear seal. Gave me a loaner. No charge. Replaced the rear main seal. No charge and gave me a free car wash. Changing my own makes no sense for me. :)

I agree.$39.99 is ia hard to beat. I do it myself though, at my own convenience. It's just such a pain having to go to the dealer. Waiting half an hour to get checked in, then having to take a cab home, because they wont be finished for several hours. Then, I have to find a ride back to pick it up. Too painful.

  3. Cmax is a good car. Turns out mine doesn't have The right software for myford touch. No diagnostics to the smartphone. Damn check engine light keeps coming on, shows evap leak code every few months. I blast the gas tank valve with compressed air, spray WD-40 and work the refill funnel in and out several times, and air blast again. Worked to shut off CEL last 3 times. The outer gas door gets gets very dirty on the inside. I'll start wiping it more often. Seems the smallest dust grain on the valve will trigger the CEL.

  4. I have those jack stands. I'm worried I have to jack the one side up too high to get them under, 11-3/4 inches. Too much stress on opposite side of vehicle. Still, why did Ford not put in a center jacking point? Need whole front or rear end up. Ford wants us to take the car in to dealer for the simplest service. All manufacturers do anymore. This is what my dad always complained about Japanese cars in the '70,s. Cant get in there to work on anything

  5. i use the "arrows" area in the front, then some small HF jackstands.  Once both front wheels are off the ground, I use the floorjack somewhere under each lower control arm in the rear, one at a time.

Curious why you're not using the rear jacking points? the middle of the rear crossbar looks sturdy, but I'd like some reassurance. I think Ill go get some ramps and small jack stands. My 3500 lb stands are too tall.

  6. I found the arrows pointing to the jack points. Are there any alternate jack points?  I would like to have both wheels off the ground, front or rear. Hard to rotate the tires not having both front wheels up. Has anyone tried using the rear axle as a jack point?
