Thanks. I've been reading the thread. I'm really glad I took the car in! And even more glad that it is still under warranty. I purchased an extended warranty when I purchased the car, and it is now getting close to the time to renew. I'm thinking I will renew it, it seems like a good idea.

It's been years since I've been in this forum. My 2013 C-Max is around 57,000 and needs a new transmission. I live in Florida, drive on the highway, with the air conditioner on. Some google searches show that the Energi is having problems with their transmissions. Is the car really that delicate?

This is now happening to me as well. It's in the front area of the door windows on the front doors (driver and passenger). Driver side is worse. There are two pieces that meet, and in my car they askew.

Thanks everyone. I already have an extended warranty, but perhaps I'll ask them to up it to the next level warranty. I will make a list of everyone's suggestions and talk to the manager about them.

Sorry I've been MIA from the group for awhile. I've just been too busy to spend much time online. Unfortunately, I have need of you all now. I took the C-Max in for an oil change and tire rotation today. It's at around 19,000 + miles. The mechanic didn't tighten the nuts on one of the tires all the way so when he drove it out of the garage, the front driver side tire fell off and that end of the car hit the ground. They will pay for all repairs and for my rental car. However, is there anything else I should think about? Visually, the bumper is crushed and the fender over the wheel well is frayed. I wanted to ask the more car savvy folks here about what else I need to talk to the manager about.

By the way, Jus, you and your wife should come on down to Orlando. My roommate is a semi-pro golfer and I'll let you drive my C-Max and teach me how to get the most from my car. :)

I agree. I absolutely LOVE my C-Max. Of course there are a few changes I would like to make. And I wish I was a hypermiler so I could get even better mpgs. But I love the size, the power, and the $$ savings of my C-Max.

The arm rest issue was a problem for me because I have problems with my shoulders (as well as my hips) and I need a place to rest my right arm to support my shoulder. Once I got my seat correctly placed, it has not been an issue for me at all. I'm just under 5'4", and the one thing I noticed is that I tend to lift my seat as high as it will go because I like to sit high. But when I read up on how to actually pick your proper seat height and distance from the pedal, it turned out to be a lot lower than I expected. The end result was that I can comfortably put my elbow on the arm wrest and put my right hand on the gear shift. It works great. I miss my minivan, though. I got to sit high and had a great arm rest. But, horrible gas mileage. :)

41!!! I'm impressed. The last time I had the car loaded like that, it really screamed at me. -

Congratulations to those who have ordered their 2014s! I have a sun roof in mine, and I really find it a cost I could do without. I live in Florida, and for most of the year, it's too dang hot to have the sun roof shade open. But that's just me. My personal feelings on whether to order or wait are these - If you order, you get exactly what you want. There was some German study done that listed the most popular car colors, and those are the ones that end up on the dealership lot. So if you want silver, gray, white, or black, you can wait. But if want a more fun color :) then you should order. I wanted a candy blue car, but the only one in the state of Florida was in Miami, and the dealer refused to do a dealer trade for it. I settled for ruby red and that dealer was about an hour and a half away, but he does a lot of trading with my dealer, so he was okay giving up his only red one. Side story - two weeks later, my dealer ended up with a candy blue C-Max on their lot and I yelled, "You're killing me!!" They said I could turn mine in and buy the blue one, but I was so burnt out on car buying I decided to stick with the red.

Happy Thanksgivakah!

Me, too. I've been away for a few weeks and wanted to check in on you. I hope you are healing well, and that today finds you pain-free and with your family.

And just to let you know how amazing my dealership manager was, he finagled the numbers in just the right way that I got the C-Max AND $1100 back for the buy back.

Well, I owned one of the 2013 escapes that was in every single recall. Also, my car was one of the few that was actually leaking and could have started a fire. My car was gone more than I had it. Actually, my car was recalled before Thanksgiving last year - and I never saw it again. There were many problems - one of the biggest ones was lack of available replacement parts. Now, I understand why there was a lack of replacement parts. But it kept my car from me for months - on two different recalls. And then, with the last recall, the part finally arrived, but it required a special tool to install - the tools were not sent with the parts. At that point, I initiated a buy back and Ford was fabulous throughout the entire process. So, having been on the bad end of the recalls, here's what I know - Ford has been amazing at dealing with the recalls. My service department is fabulous - the entire dealership is fabulous. They paid for every single one of the rentals I needed. And I'm talking for months at a time. And if I didn't like the rental, they put me in another one. (My job as a car test driver...if only it paid.) The people at my job got a huge kick out of it because it was game to see what car I was driving that week. I wish that the service technicians were better trained. According to the current report, some of the service techs may have incorrectly reinstalled the fuel lines. So, since it is 'normal' to have issues with first-year models, I think the Escape has had too many and this will hit Ford hard. But Ford's reaction to the recalls has been wonderful. And thanks to a wonderful dealership manager, an easy buy-back process, and good timing, I am now in a C-Max that I absolutely love. I miss the extra space I had in the Escape, but I love the C-Max so much, I'm okay with that.
