  1. Hi there

I have 2013 SEL. I live in Central Ohio and my milage is in the upper thirties in the winter months also.

I have found that 50 degrees is the magic number. Ounce the outside temp is 50 or above the milage jumps way up.

The attached photo is best I have been able to get. (33 miles on the freeway at 70 mph).

I see you where wondering why your engine was running even with 3/4 battery. My guess is the heater was on at the time. The engine has to run to warm up the coolant for the heater. I doesn't run all of the time but the colder it is the faster the radiator  is cooled down.

    Hang in there

  2. So Ford is going to not build a hybrid version of the cmax for the states. Wonder if that means no cmax for Europian market also.

Is Ford going to make a new hybrid or just make ev car only? Maybe make a current model into a hybrid rid so that you have a choice if you don't want an ev?

How about another escape hybrid? That would be a good option to Cmax

  3. Hi all...  not much activity in the Ohio section.  Just got my new-to-me  CMax Energi a few days ago. Stumbled on this website looking for fun aftermarket trinkets for my new ride. Still working on the oh-so-steep learning curve of this tech-heavy dashboard. Any recommendations for which to choose for a 240V system for my garage?  any cool decals for my windows?  The CMax is replacing my Honda Element.  I have only seen ONE C-Energy off a dealer's lot.  Now, back to having Christmas Morning reading the book from the glovebox.  Charge On!   nancy

    Welcome Nancy

Congrats on your new C Max Energy. My boss liked my C Max so much he and his wife decided to get one. They bought  an Energy  version like yours. He lives about 10 miles from work and drives mostly city streets. He hasn't bought gas for his in 2 months  and counting. I live in the country and drive 35 miles one way to work so I have a regular Hybrid C Max SEL. He just got back from a vacation in London and rented a C Max over there. They don't have the hybrid version there so he rented one with a desiel engine , 6 speed manual trans. with 3rd row seats. He enjoyed driving it while they were there.

  4. I saw a chevy truck at last years auto show. This company (VIA MOTORS) buys the v6 version of chevy truck. They pull the transmission and replace it with a cvt and electric

motor combo. They add batteries under the bed and use the v6 motor to charge the batteries only. This makes an ev truck with range extender gas motor. They also add

power outlets onto the side of the bed that can run everything from power tools to air compressor. Would be great on my farm. I could work on fences with the power from

the truck. The gas engine would keep the batteries charged while I work. Only available as a fleet vehicle now. Cant wait for someone to make one like it for the rest of us.

  5. Hello

I have a 2013 SEL 302a package CMax. I'm getting 45.2 MPG lifetime average with 70% of my driving on the freeway at 70 mph. I'm getting 48.6 on current tank, but cold will soon be here and my average will drop to 43 + or - through the Ohio winter weather. Texas you shouldn't see much of a difference. I've noticed that 50 degrees and above milage is great. Below 50 and it starts to drop.

No problems so far mechanically 37,000 miles and still grinning. Did have some issues with one of these reprogram updates not taking properly. They had to reprogram my car completely from scratch to correct the problem.

Congrats on your new CMax. Hope my info is helpful.

  6. I went with the EcoHitch. No drilling, just bolt on with existing holes using longer bolts supplied with the hitch.

I went with the Advantage glide away bike rack. It can carry up to 4 bikes. The glide away design makes it easy to access the back hatch without having to lay the bikes down. I have had it since I purchased my C Max in 2013. Still do not have any complaints about the rack I chose.

  7. Don't know if this is related. After having one of the CPU reprograms my trans would clunk when switching from ICE to electric drive. The dealership thought it was the trans problem that you are speaking about. They were having me drive it until it went out because it was covered by warrenty. Got a safety recall to reprogam for a check engine light or something. After which the noise has stopped and milage increased. Been running good for over 2 months now.

I think something in the first reprogram didn't take causing the problem which the second programming fixed.

    Hope this helps someone.

  8. Hello! New C-Max owner here! Just bought a used 2013 CMax SEL and LOVE it! Sterling Grey in the Delaware/Columbus, Ohio area! I've seen a couple around Columbus already as I've been driving around maybe it's some of you Columbus folk that I've seen!

    Hello and Welcome

I have a silver SEL and live in the Delaware/Columbus area. I'll keep an eye out for you.

  9. A few years ago I witnessed a theft of a Corvette with keyless entry.

I saw the guy get out of his car in the middle of the day. He walk passed me while I was loading my car outside of a department store.

I looked back at his car as it was driving away. He hadn't made it inside of the store before it was gone.

The stores cameras caught the whole thing. It took all of 20 seconds to get in and drive away.

I heard that the police in Columbus Ohio chased and caught some car thieves in a C max they had stolen from a dealership. They didn't say

how they managed to steal it. Couldn't have been too smart. A C max as a get away car? ha ha ha.......

  10. Spyburn!!!! You ok? I'm still getting over my whiplash and its been more than a year since my crash.

I'm with you. I love the head room and the seating position. Getting in and out is easy. All other cars I looked at made me feel like I was sitting on the floor and also had to lean the seat back to keep from bumping my head. Even the larger cars are like that now. I guess I could get a mini van. That is the closest thing to a C Max that I can find.

I hope the new design of hybrid has the head room, easy access and upright seating position. I have a back problem and this is the first car ever that I can drive without pain. Even my truck causes me pain on short trips.

Hope you are listening Ford. Keep up the good work.

  11. I keep my cars about 10yrs. Thats when I start having too my problems  to keep up with. Time to get a new one. Hope that my Maxie will last that long. I think it will because of the electric motor the gas engine doesn't have to run as much or as hard. The batteries are another matter. I know I will have to replace them by that time so i will trade up to the latest and greatest. Hopefully double my milage or go totally EV by then.

  12. Prius?  :gaah: ugg....   My boss has one and he loves it. I test drove one before buying my Maxie and he can have it. There was nothing I liked about that car.

As for the Volt. I knew a guy that has one and he was very happy with it. He was still driving on the tank of gas the dealership put in it 8 months earlier. Until one day the engine started and would not shut off. It ran until there was only a quarter of a tank of gas left. $$$$$$$$$   He found out later that it was programed to do that to keep fresh gas in the tank. He now only keeps a quarter tank in it so that won't happen again. Other than that he hasn't had any problems with it.
