Hello, I'm a mechanic with experience working on Prius vehicles. Recently, I purchased two C-Max cars - a 2015 Energy and a 2017 Hybrid. I've been enjoying the cars, but I've encountered an issue with the 2015 full-loaded model. After driving it for about 250 miles and parking it for 5 hours with the charger connected, the car wouldn't turn on. I tried using the remote start and the push-button start, but nothing worked. The accessories, such as the radio and AC, function normally, but the car won't enter 'ready' mode. I used my scanner and retrieved a code. I also tried charging the 6-month-old 12V battery, but it didn't make a difference. Previously, I received a code indicating lost communication with the Body Control Module (BCM), but the car continued to function normally. I suspect either a faulty BCM or a bad key (since it's not the master key). Has anyone experienced this issue before? Thank you in advance for your help.
