  1. Trying to help my Girl Friend out on a decision..

She has a  2013 C-max hybrid with 56000 miles.   It just ran out of the extended warranty at 50000.

    Ford is offering the following:

Ford Premium Warranty.    Covers everything but Big Battery which has 10 years, maintenance and wear items

additional  3yr  or 36000     for  $2635  (Seems high to me)

10% down spread 18 months no interest

    Is it worth it.

My gut says it would be cheaper to fix issues as they happen.

But I'm not sure how much somethings cost to replace.

    Any input is appreciated.

  2. Sorry, But I tried doing a search and most of the posts were older.

    We have a 2013 C-max hybrid with 58000 miles..

And our FORD ESP expired at around 50000 or so miles.

With out getting in a debate on the pluses and minuses..

Are there any options available to extend the warranty that are reliable..

Whether its Ford or 3rd party..

I had a 3rd party extended warranty on my Hyundai Santa fe that was pretty good years ago.

But can't remember who it was..

    Thanks

    Dave

  3. Thanks..

    I will try your test..

My gut feeling is they didn't reset it..

I had my radiator flushed and after a week I had the hood up and it was over an inch below.  And yes I read the manual on how and when to check it and I was on level ground.   And they've flubbed up a few times before...

You may simply have a defective battery.  Whether defective or not, reset the battery age (as I have said this probably a 100 X) when you replace the battery.  If you don't, the charging algorithm will continue to use the every degrading Ah capacity of the old battery which is computed by the "coulomb counting" routine and hence will only charge the battery to a very low State of Charge.  If the age was never reset since the car was new, I doubt you will ever get much above a 20% SOC and only after driving the car for maybe 45 minutes or so.  Even if you charge with an external charger to a 100% SOC, the car's charging algorithm will not maintain the level. Also, even Ford dealers will neglect to reset battery age. ;)

One way to tell if the age was reset, is to leave radio on, turn car off, don't open any doors and time how long it takes for the system to shut down.  When reset, the algorithm (assuming battery charge is high enough) will shut down the system to conserve power after exactly 10 minutes. As the battery loses capacity over time, this energy saving feature will continually decrease the time until shutdown.

  4. 2013 C Max Hybrid.

We had the battery replaced a few months ago and its been running great until the last week.

I've had to charge the battery twice because the 12V was dead.

It takes forever to charge at 6 amps.

But the last time I recharged it a couple days ago it charged all the way.   I charge it under the hood.

20 hours later I get in the car and the battery is dead.

I don't see anything that is on and I have been making sure that I am turning the car off before I get out.

My next step is to charge the battery up and take it to Advanced Auto and let them test the battery.

The Ford shop is about 45 minutes away.

Anyone have any input on what to look for or do?

  5. Thanks..

I finally got around and took the panel off and the have used some JB Weld PlaticMold to glue the broken tabs.

    I've attached a picture..

I"m trying to figure out if using the JB Weld Putty would help and where to put it..

Since it doesn't look like it will stick to the plastic I don't see how it will help in this instance..

    Thanks

My right side tab broke about 2 years ago.  I first tried packing tape several times holding the handle to the liftgate body but would loosen up after several months.

About one year ago, I decided to simply epoxy the handle to the liftgate body.  This is still solid after a year.  I simply mixed the epoxy and applied liberally under the handle with liftgate up and then taped handle down to body to hold while the epoxy set (liftgate still up).  Epoxy will slide down liftgate body while setting up.  So,  if doing again, I would put painters tape on the body under the handle to make cleanup easier after epoxy hardens.  Also, my last resort will be to take panels off and attempt fix, if the epoxy doesn't hold.  Here's my post on the procedure for removing panels to get to liftgate handle.

  6. Looking for a document, video etc on how to remove the panel on a 2013 C-Max Hybrid.

My release handle bracket just broke the other day and I want to take the panel off and try to use some gorilla glue to fix it.

As I've read in other posts this is a very poor design flaw for FORD..
