Candi, Your 12 volt battery can drain down and even if you have the PHEV, the high voltage battery will not charge it unless the system is booted up. Think of it like a gas tanker truck full of gas can rin out of fuel for the tractor! So if you let the 12 volt battery run down, you have to, very carefully, jump start it.

Okay, this is what I've done for 5 years. Change C-Max transaxle with Liqui-Moly 1800. Make sure you remove/drain all the old stuff. It matches and is superior to merc lv every way except cost! Your car will thank you. Liqui-Moly also has bodacious 0-20 motor oil. If you charge a lot in the PHEV version, consider Liqui-Moly stabilizer if gas stays in tank longer than 1.5 months.
