  1. Yesterday, he went to a different dealer in another city to look at trading and on his way home he thought that there was an jet flying over him.  He stopped the car and then realized that it was his car making that noise, so he turn the car off, waited a minute and then turned the car back on.  He got out of the car and it smelled like rotten eggs. Continued to make this noise for another 20 miles until he got home.  There was no check engine light with this.  He drove home, had lunch and then drove back to the original dealer.  The car was fine then but they wanted to keep it for a while to see if they could duplicate it.  By this time he really had enough.  They showed him several vehicles and he finally traded his 2013 C-Max SE Hybrid with 9,000 miles for a 2012 Taurus SEL with 45.000 and $6000 cash.  Hopefully he has a better time with the Taurus.

  2. In early I ordered a C-Max Energy.  Before I took delivery, my 87 year old father-in-law was so impressed by what he was hearing me say about the car that he went to the local dealer and purchased the very first new vehicle in his life, a 2013 C-Max SE.  From the very beginning he started having problems with a dead 12v battery.  I bought him a portable battery jump starter so that he would not have to call someone to get it started.  He took it to the dealer several times and they said that they could find no problems with the vehicle.  This has continued to happen and last week I bought him a solar battery maintainer/charger to keep plugged in at all times to the rear 12v outlet.  Over the past year, while starting the vehicle, the check engine light comes on and it runs very rough.  He has taken it straight to the dealer and left it with them for several days.  They continue to return it and say that there is no problem with the vehicle.  It happened again this week. They see it when he brings it in and knew there is a problem, but can not duplicate it.  This is the last straw.  He loved the car, but must have dependable transportation.  Today it appears that he will be looking at a different vehicle, at a different dealership and a different brand as well.  He has very few miles on it and expects to take a big loss.  I advised him to only trade it in and not to sell it to someone else.  I now have over 16,000 miles on my 2013 C-Max Energy.  I have been to the dealer once for regular service and had the updates and safety recalls taken care of at that time.   271 life time MPG.   My only problem is that in the winter previously I could make it to work with the heat on with no ICE.  Now I can barely make it with the heat off and no ICE..

  3. I traded my 2010 Prius for a 2013 C-Max Energy.  I really miss the sound of kicking a tin can when I close the door of the C-max.  I think the door of the C-Max weighs as much as the entire Prius did.  Actually I sold my Prius to my son.  Very nice vehicle, but I like the C-Max Energi much better.  If I had a long drive to work, I would consider a Prius again, but I don't.  The only way I would consider a Prius V, is if it was available as a plug-in.

  4. Maybe you can explain this to me then.  If I can always save money by switching Auto Insurance companies, which is what EVERY Auto Insurance company states on TV, why can't I just keep switching until it's free?!  :hysterical:  Sorry, you will now return to the program already in progress...

I love the commercials that state that most drivers can save $500 or more by switching to them.  I keep thinking, cool, they will be paying me to buy their insurance! ;)

  5. You get what you pay for.  What is your agent's name at GEICO?  If you call twice, do you get the same answer?  I say, buy your insurance local.    If your company offers a hybrid discount, it will be applied without requesting it.  NOW PAY CLOSE ATTENTION.... Does your policy include replacement coverage for your vehicle in case of a total loss?   Does your policy pay for replacement of hybrid vehicle parts and labor in case of a partial loss without depreciation?  Does your policy provide road hazard tire coverage?  Does your policy provide emergency road service coverage?  Does your policy provide a deductible waiver for glass breakage? Coverage for accidental airbag deployment?  Trip interuption coverage?  Key replacement coverage?  Pet coverage? Coverage for a temporary replacement vehicle?  Auto loan/lease coverage in case you owe more than your car is worth if a total loss?  and on and on and on....  You get what you pay for and deserve better.   The newest hot item in the insurance industry is a black box device developed by Progressive insurance.  It instantly notifies them of your daily mileage and start/stop braking.  Hard braking and high mileage allows for no discounts or very little.  Soft braking and low mileage allows for up to 30% in additional discounts.  I have been an insurance agent for 37 years.

  6. As driving home from work last Friday with my 6 day old adoptee, on a country road, I pass his twin going the opposite direction.  We exchanged waves and went on.  I think she was as shocked as I was.  On Sunday at a family get together.  I parked my Platinum Energi next to my father in law's Ice Storm SE.  I should have taken "family" photos.

  7. After 13 weeks of waiting and no VIN, I made a deal with the same dealer on one they had ordered.  Picking it up in the morning!   $200 higher because the white is higher than the blue I had ordered, but was able to use the $750 customer cash.  Tinting all the way around on Tuesday. They had two vehicles, one was made on April 1st.  Monday and April fools day.  I passed on that one and took the one built on April 18th, a Thursday.   I did notice that the price of a new order like the one I ordered is now $1,000 higher than on February 4th.

  8. I ordered a Energi February 4th.  Just received word from my dealer that they received their allocated vehicle that they ordered for the dealership and sold it to a private party in another state right away.  Mine is next and should have a vin in a coupe of weeks.  When you order, ask about their dealer allocation.  Could make a big difference in the time it takes for you to get your order.
