  1. Just checking back after a few months of no problems. The battery was replaced in Oct 2013, 13B12 done in Dec 2013. Thus far no more battery problems. Mileage went up to 46, from 44, in town. So far this is the longest stretch yet. I'll keep monitoring this site, and if anything changes, will report back. lumike
  2. Got a call from the service dept. Going to keep it overnight again and check for drains. C-MaxSea: stuff happens, no sense going ballistic, the dealer has been very helpful thus far. Bill-N: That may be an idea. Will have to see what the dealer will be willing to do. Salman: Those posters from the Ventura area are the reason I switched dealers. ( plus the dealer in Thousand Oaks was not too sharp) In fact the service manager I use is the one who helped the other posters. I'm not sure how the buyback will go as it is a lease vehicle. But I do want another C-max. (just one that works ) When the tow truck showed up it was the same guy, Unfortunately we have a good routine worked out. Only took us 10 minutes to load the car. Easier now that I park face out in the driveway. I'll let you know what happens. Lumike
  3. DOA 4th time on 9-15-13 2 weeks since I had it hauled in last time. In agreement with the earlier posters who recommend having it brought in by Ford Road Service. Can't hurt having a record built up. Last time an assistant manager asked several good questions( about when I had the car washed, use of SYNC, etc) so it looks like some of the dealers are more aware of what's going on. Maybe looking at this forum. Anyhow, I'll call Road Service later this AM and go in and start the ball rolling on getting a buy-back (or whatever they call it) I do want another C-max as my wife has handicap issues and this is the best fit for her. So far, she gets about 38-39 mpg. I am getting 42-43. Probably cause I do most of the driving. Stay tuned. Lumike
  4. Well, hope 3rd time is the charm. Took my C-max in for it's 5K checkup. The service sheet says performed: B 13B07 PCM REPROGRAM and C 13C02 HEADLINER This was on 8/27/13 DOA in driveway on 9/1/13 Had it hauled to the dealer and the service record says: Performed updates on FCDIM and DC/DC inverter using IDS version 86.02A. They kept it overnight and detected no unusual drains. Had the TSB 13-4-7 done on Apr 22 and ran fine till the 5K service. I'm wondering if the update done then went and put the old info back in and caused the dead battery this time? Anyhow the dealer (I switched from the one in Thousand Oaks to Vista in Oxnard because of the positive comments from a couple of other posters) was much easier to work with. (the other one said I needed to switch to premium gas to get the mileage advertised. Right then I knew I was in trouble. And they tried to make me feel I was the cause of the problem) So anyhow, keep this experience in mind if any are nearing the regular 5K maintenance. Lumike
  5. OK, Got the car back from Kemp Ford. The service sheet says they did TSB 13-4-7. I'm still going to park nose out just in case. Mike
  6. Hi all, Just had my c-max loaded on a flatbed and taken to Kemp Ford, Thousand Oaks, CA. This will be the 2nd time to the dealer. !st time jumped by AAA, drove to dealer, no trouble found. This time called Ford roadside assistance. The guy who came made an interesting suggestion. Since the car was parked nose in and in Park, it could not be rolled onto the flatbed. So what he did was to connect the jumper cable just long enough to get the car into neutral with the key on. Then shut it off right away and sure enough it was dead when the key was turned on again. Also, at the dealer, I spoke to a higher up and let him know this is a wider issue than just my car. Gave him this web site and he said he would take a look. I let the service rep know about the TSB. So we shall see. Mike
  7. OK, lets try this again, Left a couple other posts out there somewhere.... Leased a C-MAX from Kemp Ford in Thousand Oaks, CA (great people) on Jan 15,2013. Dead in driveway AM of Mar 10. Approx. 800 mi. Had AAA come out and jump and during a test he showed about 6V in the battery. Called the dealer and they wanted me in that day. Left overnight and next day said they couldn't find a problem. Of note: the first service rep said he has not seen this before. He went to lunch and the second rep said he had seen this once before. On that one they replaced the electrics in a door (doors?) (or something like that). I noticed on the repair paper it said this:" Some 2013 C-MAX vehicles may exhibit a concern where the 12 volt battery is unable to maintain a charge, or become discharged when the vehicle is operated with maximum electrical loads for short drive cycles, and then left unattended for several hours. Engineering is currently investigating this concern.... blah, blah.... Advise customers to consider not using high load accessories, such as laptops and DVD players, during these peak load situations. Continue to monitor OASIS ( whatever that is ) for updates." Also when the wife was called to come get the car, the lady at the dealer said her hubby drives a lot of hybrids, and he said to use the brakes a lot to keep the battery charged. And, for members "oxnard" and "andrewwx". I also went to Vista to test drive the C-Max and they had to jump start it to get it going. (white one) lumike
  8. Howdy all, New here, left a message on the poll page. Leased our C-MAX from Kemp Ford on Jan 15. March 10th dead in AM. About 800 mi. Had AAA come out and jump start. He read 6v when testing. Called dealer next day and they had me bring it in. Left it overnight and was called next day and told they could find nothing wrong. A couple of interesting things: the 1st service manager I talked to said this was the first he had heard this problem. A 2nd SM (the 1st went to lunch) said this was the 2nd time he has seen this. The 1st one was fixed (?) by replacing the electrics in the doors.   9. New, Leased from Kemp Ford in Thousand Oaks Jan 15, 2013. Dead battery on morning of Mar 10. AAA jumped after battery reading of about 6 volts. Called dealer and took in on the 11th. Kept overnight and called next day and said they couldn't find anything wrong. Interestingly, when I took it in the 1st service manager said he had not heard of any problems. The 2nd SM came in and said this was the 2nd one with this problem. Supposedly the first one was fixed by replacing the "door electrics". Also Oxnard (member) and andrewwx... I also was at Vista for a test drive, and they had to jump start the C-max In the test results from Kemp there was a service message that recommended not having maximum electrical loads for short drive cycles. (laptops and DVD players) Also of interest was a lady at the dealership that told my wife that her hubby drove hybrids a lot, and he says to us the brakes a lot to keep the battery charged. lumike
