  1. I know this is a dead thread, but this happened to me *exactly*, several days ago. Sirius update 0%, unable to use any radio functions, but got home fine, and shut off car. Tried to start two days later, and dead dead dead. Will be jumping it shortly, but wondered if original poster MaxwellHammer had any more problems?

  2. I fixed it.  The trick was to go to the Climate control screen, turn it off from there, and then turn the car off with the Climate screen displayed (not Nav, or Entertainment, etc).

Now the climate control stays off when we start up, no matter what screen was displayed, like normal.

Thank you all for the help and advice!  Hope this helps someone, someday.

    Hi Hatchman,

Well this helped someone, this day.  Been having the same problem since last time my car went in for a recall plus hatch/latch problem.  Tried this out and it seems to be working, although nobody knows why.  Thanks for the help!

  3.

Now I want a hybrid to replace my '07 RAV4, with similar utility. The RAV can get 27-28 mpg on the road, but the best I can get out of it locally, where I mostly drive it, is 21-22 mpg. That looks pretty paltry compared to the TCH's 40-41 average mpg. At the moment, the obvious choices are the Prius v or the C-Max. There's also the Lexus CT 200h. I have yet drive any of them. I will rent a "v" for a weekend and will test drive the C-Max. I'm eager to test drive the C-Max soon, to see whether I would really like it. The most important criteria for me are reliability, ride smoothness, power and at least a soupcon of luxury. Our '12 TCH LXE provides all three. I'd consider the Lexus for the luxury aspect, except it runs on the Prius drivetrain and Consumer Reports wasn't impressed with it as an entry-level luxury car. In any case, I won't be making a move until 2014 at the earliest. I expect there'll be some interesting developments by then. For example, I just read on another forum that Toyota may bring a hybrid RAV4 to market for the 2015 model year. Ford could make some changes in the C-Max. Toyota might come out with a beefed-up "v" for people like me who're willing to give up some MPG for more power. Or Lexus might drop a 200 hp drivetrain into their hybrid hatchback and improve the interior fit and finish. Or, who knows?

I liked the Lexus CT200h when I test drove it, but if you're looking for "a hybrid to replace my '07 RAV4, with similar utility", I don't think the CT200h is it.  After checking out the front seats, which I found comfortable, but my husband found cramped, I opened up the hatchback.  Turned to my husband and said "We're gonna need a smaller dog."  Not very spacious, is what I'm saying.

  4. Hi Jerry! Congrats on ordering your C-Max.  It's gonna be a long wait 'til February.  Still, it gives you a reason to look forward to February!

I don't know about the popularity of Ice Storm in the outside world, but here in the forums it seems pretty popular, with a few of us waiting for and a few already owning one (I'm still waiting, unfortunately :-).

  5. My C-Max is at the Jessup, MD CSX yard - made it there just before midnight on 11-29. Lets see if it gets to the dealer tomorrow, Saturday, as per the visibility tracking report.

Just found out mine's in Jessup too.  Dealer's not far from there, so I'm hoping, hoping it shows up there tomorrow!

So it's the vin # I am needing? When do they provide this?

I asked my dealer for a bild date. .... None yet. Ack! I feel like I am floating in space. BLIND.

I just asked for the VIN numbers. Thanks.

Glad you're starting to get info, Rachel.  The wait will end sometime (I hope)

  6. Laurel, that's so exciting!  Can't wait to see another Ice Storm show up on the forums.  Loaded means package 303 and sunroof?

I am waiting for mine to come in, but am feeling a little jerked around, as I keep hearing "probably later today" since Monday.  If the date has changed, I wish they'd just let me know.  But I think they're afraid, because they know I was offered an awesome deal from another dealer on what the manager called a "color blind special" - same package as I want, with a couple of extra options for less than price of ordered Ice Storm at first dealer, but in a different color (already on lot).

  7. I Love color.  Waiting on the C-max I ordered in Ice Storm; love it a lot most of the time, but find it can look a washed out gray sometimes, depending on light and distance.  But it's my favorite color of the choices we have.  Kept wanting to like the red, but each time I saw it, it just didn't do it for me on the C-max.  It actually surprised me, when I saw the car in Blue Candy and in white, that I liked it better in the white (which I never go for).  That told me that I like this car best in a lighter color.  But like Rachel, I would have gone for a bright green without a second thought.  (Frogs painted on it?  Maybe not.  ;-)  But look, there they are on my wallet!)

  8. Hi again Rachel-

At least a few of us are having this problem, so you probably didn't do anything yourself to make it happen. I posted about in the "What can we do to make the site better" thread in the Lounge. One suggestion was to change your settings to last 24 hours, which still brings up new content topics in bold.

  9. Well, what was she doing? It may help others.

Rachel: He meant that they were worried she was doing something stupid until they found this thread where others were having the same problem. It took a second reading for me before I got what he meant.

Csavage: When it happened to me on a test drive, I felt a little silly, too, sitting there not able to get the car moving when everything seemed fine.

  10. at which time I upgraded to the SEL, Ice Storm, Medium Stone, with 302a package.

donhak- We're getting the exact colors/configuration that you've chosen, coming pretty much to the other side of the country. One of the features of the SEL I'm most looking forward to is the Intelligent access key; I imagine you'll appreciate not having to stop to dig your key out even more in Anchorage than I do in Virginia.

  11. Has happened to me numerous times.. At first I thought it was maybe a user error.. But it's not.. The car shows that its ready to drive but when I push the gas, it acts like the emergency brake is on.
    (emphasis mine)

That's exactly how I experienced this at the dealership on a test drive, but I wasn't familiar enough with the car to realize something odd was going on. I thought at the time I just hadn't started it up correctly, but having driven a Prius regularly for the last 6 or 7 years, I always have my foot on the brake when I start up any car, so that wasn't the problem. Pushed the button off, then back on and car worked just fine.

Edit to add: First thing I did was check the emergency brake, and it was fully released already.

  12. C-Max seem to be scarce here. A quick search of SEL models within a 100 mile radius of me sow only 10.

In my area, C-max are really showing up, with several on each lot, instead of one or two. Depending on the site I check, there are well over 40 SELs within 100 miles of my zip. But NoVA is well-populated with Prius (including my household), and it's probably a great market for the C-max.

I wondered about the lack of advertising. If I hadn't been waiting for it, would I have been aware the C-max was out there? Did see the line-drawing ad once or twice, but I've seen Escape ads over and over.
