  1. Wow, yes, I do realize I was lucky, but stories like this really drive it home. I could easily have gotten 1 more foot away and gotten pinned between the door and our other car. Then I could have been this year's Darwin award winner. Not to mention my three small kids that were in the car. Thank God for small miracles. Seriously, cost of damages aside... my C-max alert system is very poorly implemented. It yells at me when I have turned the car off but not put it in park, but doesn't care if I open the door when the car in in gear (or moving)??? Someone messed up. B
  2. Um, yeah, I kinda admitted that when I said it was my own stupidity. Maybe you missed that? :noobie: :) :banghead: Just trying to get some opinions. Thanks for yours. B
  3. Ok, so really my own stupidity caused my accident. Here's how it went down... I was in my C-max, about to back out of my driveway, when I realized I forgot something. I open my door and hop out and the car starts backing up without me. Before I can get back in and put on the brakes, the open door catches on something and bends the door backwards. Apparently, I had already put the car into reverse and released the parking break. *sigh* Now, if not for the issue covered by 13C07, a warning buzz/beep should have occurred when I opened the door while the car that was started and in reverse. With a hybrid, it seems like such a warning is even more necessary, since it is harder to tell if the engine is running. I contend that a warning sound when I opened the door might have been enough to save me from my idiocy. Thoughts? Any chance I can get Ford to cover the damages? Should I even try? This seems to be veering into the area of "You sold me hot coffee and then I spilled it on myself, so I'm going to sue you." Brazen P.S. I'm totally pissed at myself for damaging my baby.
  4. Can we make this the "complain about the MPG update" thread? I've been pretty disappointed with it, too. I've only had it for half a tank, but my MPG has gone down a little (1-2 MPG). I have two main routes to work (one more city, one more highway), so 4 different legs (two routes, there and back), and I have measured 2 of the 4 legs at lower MPG than before the update (one is around -5 MPG, mostly highway). The other two legs are about the same as before. In addition, I swear the AC is not as cold as it was, though I suppose that could all be in my head. Don't really like the way the engine feels now, either (the higher rev). Sigh. I wish I could just go back to my pre-update c-max.
  5. Two names for mine, depending on the mood: "The Dash" for the hyphen/dash in the middle of C-Max, and "Sea Bass" (sorta rhymes with C-Max) and because it looks like a fish (though maybe more like a grouper, as someone else said).

  7. Alright, I won't sweat it then, but it must be a combination of the pump and the C-Max fuel intake, because I've used the same stations/pumps for many years with my other car, and never had this happen. The C-Max must have a particularly narrow intake. I'll keep track of the "bad" pumps and avoid them in the future.
  8. I have over 3500 miles on my SEL and have filled up maybe 6 times. The last two fill ups I've had trouble with the pump shutting off every few seconds, requiring me to squeeze the handle over and over until I got near 13 gallons. If I squeeze the handle just a tiny bit, I can get it to fill without shutting off, but this takes a LONG time. Nothing in between "full blast" and "trickle" seemed to work. I tried pushing the nozzle farther in, a little bit out, no luck. Anyone else having this trouble? I've filled up at the same station for most of my fill ups, so not sure what is different (I'm pretty sure I've used the same pump for some of them). Brazen
  9. My worst c-max fears materialized! My sympathies, from another University Ford Durham C-max owner.
