There's an app for that. OK, kidding but maybe.....

Just had Ruby's first oil change at the dealer. The young tech. didn't reset the oil monitor so I had to do it. 1. Turn the ignition key to the on position. Do not start the engine. For vehicles with push-button start, press and hold the start button for two seconds without pressing the brake pedal. Do not attempt to start the engine. 2. Press both the accelerator and brake pedals at the same time. 3. Keep both pedals fully pressed. 4. After three seconds, the Service: Oil reset in prog. message will be displayed. 5. After 25 seconds, the Service: Oil reset complete message will be displayed. 6. Release both the accelerator and brake pedals. 7. The Service: Oil reset complete message will no longer be displayed. 8. Rotate the key to the off position. For vehicles with push-button start, press the start button to turn the vehicle off completely.

Good questions one and all. I'm not sure what the original oil is but considering the first change is one year or 10K miles, I'd assume it's synthetic but you know what they say about assuming. My volt did come with syn. and had a TWO YEAR time frame for the first oil change so the manufacturers are comfortable with going with longer periods. My 2010 prius also had a 10k interval. FWIW This oil will have approx. 7,000 miles when I change it (unless the monitor says otherwise) and I plan to send it in to blackstone for a report. I've been using mobil 1 syn. at 10k intervals and haven't heard/seen anything negative analysis's with it. There is the extended performance 5w20 with 15k intervals for those who prefer that. I forgot about the oil monitor and its reset so thanks for brining that up.

No whistling here.

So my dealer offered a free first oil change at 3,000 miles by their separate Express Lane facility which is open to all makes. Well since this isn't my first rodeo, I'm know everything comes at a cost so I was hesitant but decided to give them a shot as I was all ready at 3,600 in six weeks of ownership. I was adamant with the service writer about using synthetic and not that mystery stuff that comes from the hose in the ceiling :nonono: and he said they'd use whatever the OM calls for. Knowing that it stipulates syn, I was somewhat satisfied with his answer. Going into the waiting room, I was pleasantly surprised to see several flat screen tv's showing each service bay so I could watch. But the best surprise of all was seeing them put in bottled Mobil One 5w20 synthetic! :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet: It took nearly 40 minutes from drive in to drive it out so it did cost me some time and they handed my a "bill" for $73!!! which I didn't have to pay. No way I'll go back at those rates because I change my own for about $30-35. I will use this till 10,000 and then I'm thinking of going to their 0w20. Mobil does recommend it for the C-Max and by then the ICE should be pretty well broken in. This is from their website: Mobil 1 0W-20 Advanced Fuel Economy Also consider Mobil 1 0W-20 Advanced Fuel Economy, an advanced full synthetic motor oil, for vehicles where a SAE 0W-20 or 5W-20 oil is recommended. Mobil 1 0W-20 Advanced Fuel Economy is engineered to deliver outstanding engine protection and a potential 2% fuel economy improvement based on a comparison versus those grades most commonly used. Actual fuel economy improvement is dependent upon vehicle/engine type, outside temperature, driving conditions and your current engine oil viscosity.

LOL. Really? :headscratch:

I have a thread dedicated to such feats (50+ mpgs): http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1720-50mpg-trips/ to show the CMAX is very capable of impressive mpg's. Every >50 trip offsets a <40 one.

Welcome! :happy feet: I, too, an a previous owner of multi-hybrids but my first Ford so it's interesting to see how they do it. Check out this great thread if you haven't all ready: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1693-what-cool-hidden-feature-have-you-discovered-about-your-c-max/

http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1938-lifetime-reset-not-resetting-average-view/

Yes, they are independent. You can reset the avg meter at any time while on any screen EXCEPT while on "my view" by holding down the left "OK" button. The fuel avg on the trip meters are only reset when you reset the trip meters. The trip summary meter resets itself after every power cycle. You have FIVE fuel economy meters: 1) lifetime 2) avg meter (the big one you normally see) 3) trip 1 4) trip 2 5) trip summary (displays after you power off the car followed shortly by the lifetime meter)

Yes, you took a test drive and now have been assimilated. Resistance is futile. Welcome to the C-Max borg. Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!! :)

How does Fuelly show up on everyone's posts?
fotomoto replied to C-Maxgo's topic in General Discussion
You have to have a car entered, do you? If so, then click on that entry and like Jus said it's there on the bottom right side of the page, next to the "share your mpg" logo. I just added mine. -
Article: Would you buy an Apple iCar?
fotomoto replied to Riddley's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
Your subject title reminds me of a question thrown around the ol' motorcycle forums: "If Harley Davidson built an airplane, would you fly in it?" Hope this doesn't start a platform war but I'll bite: Yes, I'd much rather operate an i-Car rather than a PCar. Due to the overall ineptitude of a growing number of drivers, I personally can't wait till we really do have auto-drive cars. -
LOL Yes. Yes, it would. The 302A package is hard to beat; especially when it's darn near free! :) CONGRATS!

As per my previous posts in this thread, I agree that going to the expense of trying to convert the cmax hybrid to a/c charging is foolish but as a former volt owner I would like to clear up a few things. First, the national grid is getting cleaner and cleaner and it greatly depends on where one lives if their electric car is powered by "dirty coal". Even here in Texas, the home of big oil, we have wind farms coming out the wah-zoo! Second, most plug-in owners charge at night when there is a surplus of electricity so no extra fuel whether it be coal or otherwise is burned. And lastly at 80% EV use, my volt had a .03 cents/mile running cost (162mpg lifetime) which might seem hard to believe yet I was still below the median average of owners on http://www.voltstats.net NOTE: voltstats data is NOT self-reported like fuelie.com, it comes directly from the car via OnStar telematics.

Yes this is standard hybrid practice to extend battery life. General rule of thumb is 80% charge to 20% discharge. Looks like the CMAX at 70/30 is even more conservative (good thing) which should promote a nice long life. THANKS for doing the legwork!

I do and a lot. I have the power meters on gauge 1 and usually have engine temp on gauge 2. Lately I've been switching gauge 2 to the power usage (a/c and other) to see how much draw a/c has on the system. Sometimes I add the tachometer just for grins. I really, really wish we had the option of having two or three "my views".

Got to be quicker around here! http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1919-audi-commercial/

Barry, did you note what the lifetime read when you picked up the car? I ask because dealership mileage is often brutal. Salesmen typically idle the car in the lot with the a/c running while they show potential customers all the bells and whistles (and there's a lot of those in a CMAX!) and test drives are usually short on a cold engine. If you didn't reset it, I suggest doing that so it will reflect only your driving.

Question re: Fog Lights
fotomoto replied to grggwlkr's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
My fogs will not come on if the headlights are in auto but are not activated. -
What cool hidden feature have you discovered about your C-Max?
fotomoto replied to armoredsaint's topic in General Discussion
You use one loooong straw. :) -
You should have heard some of the stuff coming out of her (Samantha's) mouth once my kids figured out this feature. On second thought, mmmm, maybe you shouldn't. :)

It's a conspiracy against Ruby Red owners, I tells ya'!!!!!!

I have an iPhone 4s and it occasionally does that too. I have our home phone number named as "home" and classified as "home" as opposed to work or cell. I have my wife's cell and work numbers stored and have to say both to specify which one to call so, yes, I think we both should be saying "call home, home" so as to skip the line #2 step. Hope that makes sense.
