  1. I had been keeping my screen in "empower" mode and hit it into "engage" mode.  There is a little engine symbol that lights up when the engine is running and is visible but not lit when on battery.  The book says it's a "check engine" light.  When I look at pictures of that screen it appears to be as designed. Furthermore, if it was a warning it would make sense that you'd see it on all info screens not just engage.  Am I correct that it is as designed?? Thanks!!

  2. I noticed on my rear view mirror there is a dark spot it the middle on the top.   If I recall there was a compass on the car I test drove but it doesn't seem to be doing anything.   I should add I have the navi so I see a compass there.   Is it broken?? Is there something I have to turn on???

  3. I will say aside from it not wanting to connect to my iPhone once I haven't had an issue in the few days I've had the car...it plays whatever audio is up on my iPhone and it correctly received and let me answer a phone call.   I don't get that many text messages so I haven't been able to verify how text messaging works on it.   Yes, Sync is a complex piece of software running on complex hardware so there will be bugs.  Honestly if I was building an on-board system I'd do it on something from the UNIX branch on the OS tree (UNIX, Linux or even mac OS...heck even iOS (not sure if there's any unix underpinnings though) rarely crashes.)

  4. Wow...I can see that being disconcerting if it seems to shut off!  Yeah, leaving the car on accidently actually reminds me of another concern about leaving the car unlocked....the traditional way of testing it...pulling on the door handle doesn't apply because it will unlock...trying to be aware of it.

I took my maxie on two errand runs today and to lunch with relatives (my Aunt really liked it...she has a prius.)  Tomorrow it makes it's first trip to work.

Here she is!   I got to the dealership at 10 am.  The negotiations took until 11:30am.   Waiting, paperwork, more waiting and the salesman went over the car with me and I finally left around 2:35 pm ...over 4 1/2 hours.   I wonder if new car buying will ever be like everything else.....there's a price and that's what it is.   I will say I got the price I wanted even if it took 90+ minutes.

  6. So this morning I called the local dealer (it's maybe 10 minutes from my house if that much) and make an appointment for tomorrow morning.   I mostly cleaned out my car.   Hopefully I'll be able to get the deal I want when I go in there in the morning....if not there are other dealers in the area.

Anyway, my Dad went by where my Folks lives and looked at the CMAX and liked it so I have the "Parental" stamp of approval :)

    We'll see what happens tomorrow.

  7. As someone who is in Virginia it does anger me...to specifically target certain vehicles is wrong.  I think a road tax based in some form or fashion to the amount of wear and tear the vehicle puts on the road is the fairest thing.   However I'm not sure if it's at all practical...how can you do it without being intrusive (who would tolerate the government mandating something in your car to monitor it's usage???)

There are issues with a distance commuted tax because around here (and I suspect in other areas) it would fall often on people who earn less as they are more likely to not be able to afford housing near work and have long commutes (although the counter argument is they're by necessity using the roads more.)  At least most of the people with awful commutes that I know are people who don't earn a large amount.

Unfortunately with the desire among certain politicians to push people to move back into cities (they think it's more environmental) it may come to that sort of thing at some point.

  8. Yes, doesn't Lord Paul Drayson have a lot to do with running hybrids in LeMans? I have a great deal of respect for the man....approaching eco-friendly vehicles in a very pragmatic way.

lol..only a hybrid driver would think of that  ;)

By the way, give it a few more years and I suspect these speed records may be all electric. They're already doing Lemans with hybrids...let a Super CMax appear

    World fastest convertible...you guessed it...its a Bugatti...

  9. Great review! I'm thinking of trying to rent one myself this weekend. That would give me a chance to really try it out. I like the ford tech so much I replaced the cross trek on my list worth the Escape (which I haven't driven yet). In terms of options, what I dint like is you can't get a backup camera on the SE

  10. Thanks for the input!!! LOL Armoredsaint :)  That's quite a story Raymond....very helpful.  BigRed...one thing I mentioned on your thread that impresses me is the variety of folks it fits....from your 6'7" to my 4'6".   It does say a lot on the time they put into the interior.  From what you and Riddly said it seems what I experienced was normal and as with anything...if I get the car I'll be used to it very shortly.

  11. Thanks StoBro!   Good information!   Yes, that's my Edie.....she is indeed a Rescued racer (well...she never quite made it to the track...too submissive.)   She's 12 1/2 half now with medical issues so I'm just trying to enjoy what time we have left together.   I'm not sure if I could practically do a second set of wheels for winter (I'm in a townhouse without a garage) so I'd probably look into a good set of all weather tires.   I would think though it's very important in the upper midwest where your are.
