  1. Here's an article to help those in the winter with lower mpg's: http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17560 Glad I live in Sunny So. Cal. and dont have to deal with this
  2. $57 / day to rent a CMax from here in No. Cal: https://relayrides.com/car-rental/richmond/ford-c-max-hybrid/17692
  3. Should maybe pin this to a main page so it doesnt get burried with all the activity it goes to a page further back on "View New Content"
  4. Sorry yes I meant Carbon Dioxide from breathing you own old stale air which lacks the nutrients your body/ lungs need to not go unconscious. I fixed my original reply post
  5. Yup a fully loaded Cmax Energi is very expensive. With the tax rebates and discounts it comes down a lot.
  6. I agree, gas like Mobil or Chevron will be the best quality gas and has the higher additives/cleaners in the blend. I never never never use Arco junk gas. Its 10 cents cheaper for a reason folks.
  7. I agree they should show off the car more instead in their commercials. so much great stuff to love. They did show off the hands-free lift gate but that was in the Escape (non--hybrid) commercial. Yes they showed it in the cartoon commercial as well but that doesn't really count in my book
  8. How did you get it done for free? connections? ;) did you switch it out to full synthetic ?
  9. I'm sure the final re-reviewed testing results report will come out soon and will show it was valid. They didnt cheat. They wouldnt risk marring the image of the company especially after the auto bailout. Sure they wanted to beat the Toyota Prius in sales and they have done that so far. Demand is crazy high for these cars. but yes they need to have a different test for hybrids/plugins
  10. I know how to calculate the middle value but Im asking how he visually sees it on the dial since its not a digital readout and only a dial which can only be a guess/estimation since the markers are only every 5 mpg
  11. Yes if there is a smoky old car in front of you, you will not want the fresh air to come in so recirculate makes sense there, until you get around them
  12. See here: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-air-recirculation.htm specifically: "If not well designed and maintained, air recirculation systems might aggravate respiratory conditions and lead to the spread and concentration of air contaminants. In enclosed areas — most quickly in small ones such as in the passenger compartment of a car — dangerous carbon monoxide levels can develop if fresh air is kept completely blocked from entry for an extended period of time. To deal with this potentially serious problem, many car manufacturers add carbon dioxide detectors as safe-guards to their air recirculation and conditioning systems." Not sure if the CMax has the detectors or not as its not a luxury car but a modern one so....anyone want to ask their dealer/Ford tech? And if they did what would it display? I dont think there is any warning light that would come on in the dash. and here: http://carbuzzard.com/2012/01/carbon-monoxide-kills-staying-safe-in-your-car/ specifically: "Keeping the heater fan running maintains a positive pressure inside the car so that air flows out rather than seeps into the car. Resist the temptation to run the heater/air conditioner in recirculation mode (the button or knob is identified with a symbol of the outline of a car with a “u-turn” arrow). It may conserve heat but it can also keep carbon monoxide in the car. Driving with “recirc” on will also cause the windows to mist over, making outward visibility difficult, and although fogged-over windows might have advantages at the drive-in, even that probably isn’t worth dying for. A casual chat certainly should not have cost the lives of three young women" Its not a good idea to use recirculate 100% of the time
  13. I wonder how many marriages will end because of the CMax where the techy husband (or wife) is always complaining to their spouse about messing up their lifetime fuel mpg average! :)
  14. I noticed no one has said anything about State Farm yet Here is what my State Farm insurance rep told me about the cost of insurance for the C-Max SEL 303a. (Note I get a lot of discounts due to my multi car and policy and loyalty) I already have my 2012 VW Passat SEL and my wifes 1999 Toyota 4Runner Limited on our policy so the CMax would be the 3rd car. AUTOMOBILE LIABILITY 15/30/25 = $126.78 MEDICAL PAYMENTS COVERAGE @ $1000 = $8.49 COMPREHENSIVE $500 DEDUCTIBLE ACV = $57.03 COLLISION $500 DEDUCTIBLE ACV = $188.13 EMERGENCY ROAD SERVICE = $2.64 R1 CAR RENTAL/TRAVEL EXPENSES $16/DAY, $400 MAX = $10.08 UNINSURED MOTOR VEHICLE 15/30 = $11.13 UNINSURED MTR VEH PROP DMG = $1.67 TOTAL OF 6 MONTH PREMIUM = $405.95 MONTHLY PREMIUM (SERVICE CHARGE NOT INCLUDED)= $67.66 APPLICABLE DISCOUNTS: MULTI-CAR DISCOUNTMULTIPLE LINE DISCOUNTGOOD DRIVER DISCOUNTLOYALTY DISCOUNTVEHICLE SAFETY He stated I might not need the rental car coverage since we would have 3 cars so we could always drive the other if needed. "As for the discount on Hybrids--it is basically built in to the pricing of each vehicle. Insurance premiums are rated for each model, each trim line based upon their particular loss experience. For example if a HONDA Civic DX had much fewer claims than a HONDA Civic LX, then the rating would be lower on the DX model. Therefore if the hybrid models had less claims than gas models, the hybrids would be lower."
  15. foto - you might want to switch it from recirculate to the fresh air nonrecirculate mode every so often to not get you sick as its not good to just breath in old expended air which is full of CO2 (carbon di-oxide) Edited (corrected CO to CO2 carbon dioxide)
  16. going that far with both cars especially her low mpg SUV isn't an option i like. since we want to test drive now but are not buying now (wife still getting interviews to go back to work) and since we will be buying from the AAA or costco programs approved dealer we can't just go to any dealer and get a test drive if they know we won't be buying soon or from them; already tried that and failed (plus they didn't have the same model and options we wanted,so... we will find one someday but will have to wait for now.
  17. jus - so how are you differentiating a speed difference between 67 mpg and 68 mpg for example if you don't see the actual speed on the gage/dial?
  18. there's some cool articles here: http://www.ansys.com/Industries/Automotive/Application+Highlights/Electric+Powertrain
  19. really great idea. the dealers should get to know about it to let the owners practice. available here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/myford-touch-guide/id501961889?mt=8
  20. take it in and ask if it's normal or not. the cabin in the C-max is large so maybe they had to factor in that in to its power but i don't think they'd want to scare customers that way if it's how you describe.
  21. jus, next time you are at Galpin can you ask them which dealer has the best selection/inventory for the C-max and best customer service near me in 90605, as the valley is a bit far for me that i dont live in Glendale anymore. thanks
  22. haha sorry its the Quality Engineer and perfectionist in me :0
  23. yes but they have all their options ala carte so once you add in all the stuff you want/need a $34000 A4 becomes about $40k
  24. thats a great program that makes a lot of sense especially for an American car company to do the same. Audi has some of the best cars. i would get one if i could afford it. :)
  25. it just would have been nice for them to make the Escape hybrid for the larger rear cargo area and more SUV look/feel.
