Cmaxsea, I see you have the 303a package. Just like we plan to get. Just wondering how many times have you used your parallel parking assist? And how many times did you practice first before you were confident to use it for real with cars alot closer together and limited space? Or are you still a park-assist virgin? -
Why wasn't that one of your questions to the dealer before you signed the check and took the keys??! Always research all factors on how you will use a car/product to be sure it will meet ALL your typical needs/ requirements. example: buying a tablet to them expect to be able to do CADD design work that needs major processing power, memory and an insane graphics card is not going to work obviously.

Why not put the insurance money towards a new CMax instead of a used one? And Finance the rest. Surely your prius totaled out gave you a decent check back unless they lowballed the value. Of course first year depreciation always hurts/ takes the most out of the value. Some insurance companies are offering a 1 year newer car policy if your car is totaled. Anyways as for used, you don't want to have regrets and inherit someone else's issues and smells :) Especially in a hybrid with all the tech, lots of improvements have taken place in the first 1.5 years after the cmax launch so most bugs have been worked out of the 2013s and the last of the made 13s and new 14s should be alot better. You might get a good deal on a new '13 since they want to move inventory but check the VIN on the ettis site for build date to make sure it's a later mfg build and not a very old build early in the production run.

The formula that I have goes like this: % Hwy = 100 x (Avg Trip speed in mph - minus the CITY factor value) / divided by (HWY factor - CITY factor) Where CITY factor = 21 and HWY factor = 48 So simplified its : % hwy = 100 x ( "avg trip speed from your dash" - 21) / (27) So if my avg speed for the entire tank when I filled up shows 25 mph then my %hwy would be: 100 x (25 - 21 ) / 27 Or 100 x 4 / 27 = 100 x 0.148 =14.8 % highway So % city = 100 - 14.8 or 85.19 % city I was confused at first as well. You ate basically comparing your avg mpg versus the factor mph they use as a baseline. Makes sense to me

Glad it was helpful to you, and hopefully others.

Only issue with the platinum white color is when you will eventually need to touch up the paint for pits/scratches and it will be very expensive or difficult for a shop to find and match the paint so it looks good and not like splotches.

Cool thanks for the info Justin

Remember to always negotiate the PRICE of the CAR, NOT what you can afford to pay. That is a dealer scam to get you. read up on best car negotiation tips on the car buying/review sites if you haven't yet. Once the cars total cost to you with all options checked that you want and taxes is determine then and only then do you determine the payment each month. You can configure the car exactly how you want it and also determine payments right on many of the car review sites like Edmunds. If you have AAA club membership or Costco use their car buying program. Be sure to check out true car.com and edmunds.com for finding the actual expected price to pay which u try to get to be just a little more than invoice price. The dealers make money don't feel sorry for them and give them more than u have to. And go on there acting like u have plenty of cash and DON'T have any financial issues. DON'T tell them u are struggling or else they eat u up like piranhas
-
The key will be that they COMPLETELY remove the bike rack when not in use otherwise the drag will eat up the mpgs fast. Many folks just leave it on and wonder why their mpgs suck. ========= Hybrid bear said: Since you bring up the bicycles that means the smallcar is out so it's really C-Max or diesel. Some of the decision probably depends on how much city driving you'd do outside of your commute. And also what speed you'd travel on your commute.

On a long down slope do you tap the brake a little ( not enough to hit the real fraction brake but just the regeneration brake) to get the SOC up or does it do it by itself on a downgrade?
-
I'm pretty sure the dead battery issue is the secondary result/effect of the actual root cause of the problem which had still yet to be determined.

Welcome and congrats robfixit.Glad you were able to convince "the boss" to get it. Justify the price?? For what you get in a cmax you are actually getting bargain. Most decent cars these days start at around $28-30k . which trim level and package number did you get? What is your favorite feature? Have you read through the manual yet? Did the dealer teach you all about the car and walk you thru All the features to help you learn? Have fun saving gas and money and having a blast at the same time. Be sure to read the thread by Jus-a-CMax for all the insider tips and tricks to get the best mpg. Driving slow isn't always the best for maximum mpg. Counter intuitive. See here http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1751-jus-another-cmax-review/

Jus you know you can open the fuelly on your smart phone and jus enter it when at the pump. Your missed entries hurt boosting up the score for the 2013 but yeah I can see how you might get burned out of the game after 2 years and jus want to drive it and have fun knowing it's a great car.

Lance, congrats on the quick improvements you've made.keep it up.keep posting the things that work and don't work for you. Enjoy your ride and yes getting double the mpg of your last car it's amazing.my wife will be in the same situation once she gets her CMax. I see the difference (deviation) between tank mpg is more consistent as well. Less fluctuations up and down like a whipsaw is great. If you can stay within +/- 5 mpg of your average or best mpg that will be the stupendous and keep increasing your average every month till you break the cmax in around 10,000 to 12,000 miles. Enjoy the ride.

N u still haven't fixed it on your original post. It wasn't you most likely the auto spell checker/auto word fix feature on your tablet/phone off you used that to post it. -
Haha don't get me started on the Pri-crap-mobile Hate the look of it sooo outdated now. Those ugly shiny surrounds on the rear lights that Nissan is so famous for doing. Ugh puke gag. Joke interior that is like a tin can. No sound deadning. Creak. Squeak 'nuff said

Never had the energi on the list as the big hump for the battery in the back is a deal breaker. No way my wife can give up that much cargo space coming from her Toyota 4Runner. It's the hybrid all the way since her commute to work is about 25 miles over 3 freeways and sometimes traffic and mine is 14 one way so we drive a moderate distance. The nrgi is better for short around town commutes <5 miles or so; a diesel for a long hauler so the hybrid fits best right in between where we do both city and highway driving.I do more city as sometimes I take the streets all the way to work and if I take the freeway I still have 4 miles on the street just to get to the freeway on ramp. She is forced to drive mainly freeway. so I will get to play and see how much EV I can get out of the CMax on my commute in the city portion. Yes I've learned a lot here in the forums but it will be her car and so I will only get to drive it when we swap vehicles every week or so (at least that is my plan to get to play with it for a whole week so I can report back here with my results). I am helping to pay for some of the down payment so that will let me get a "ticket to drive" . We'll see. Since her SUV is now 15 yrs old she won't be wanting to let the CMax out of her hands to much once she falls in love with all the cool stuff it has. Her CD skips in her suv and the a/c has a loose solder joint on the panel causing it to be intermittent and not always work or not be able to be controlled how you want it to be, thus wasting more gas/ mpgs over its already bad mpg rating. She doesn't have heated seats in her suv sms she loves mine in my Passat so she will be driving the CMax around a lot I believe. Just wish they would fix the darn battery issue so we could sleep sound knowing she won't get stranded one day.

What made you choose the dealership you did?
salsaguy replied to CarpeNivem's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
AAA also has a car buying option for their members for the near or below invoice price and no haggle issues with dealer or here for California http://www.calif.aaa.com/content/ace/ca1/home/automotive/buy-a-vehicle/car-buying-service.html thats what I used for my own Passat 2 yrs ago and what we will be using for my wifes CMax when we finally decide to go for it -
I did the ecoboost challenge last year 2013 and they had the CMaxes but I think this year they wont as I saw another video where they were focusing on the trucks could be wrong though it was a lot of fun but long lines didnt do the faster ST racing challenge as I havent driven stick in awhile : o)

for you 2 guys with the platinum white CMaxes, was it worth the extra cost now that youve had your cars for a while now? we are stil deciding on my wifes final ext color either Sterling Grey or Platinum White I think

actually the color called "Ice Storm" is the one that looks like aqua. the blue candy is the darker one that looks like a blue jelly bean

So you think a slow burn is the most Fuel Efficient way to drive?
salsaguy replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Fuel Mileage
Check out this video to see how a photographer I admire and follow uses his tripod and gets a very stable secure position to do his time lapse photography there are 3 parts this is part 1 http://youtu.be/7zQW0BWzfIY if u are into photog watch all 3 parts the mounting of the tripod to be stable starts around 2 min mark of course youd have to change this a bit to take the video over your shoulder instead of in the middle of the back seat as he does but maybe you can come up with something -
have u considered going back and adding in notes as the video is playing to tell us what is going on in each stage of the vid? you can add real comments embedded in the vid that pop up for a length of time u decide and show it when the note needs to show up and where its cool i think it would help new folks learn better about the techniques

Jus do you try and keep the battery in the 1/2 to 7/8 range and never get all the way 100 % charged and not down to 25% low either? if it starts getting too high on SOC do you let off the gas and go into EV to drain some? since once u reach 100% SOC it cant charge more and u are wasting more gas using the ICE to charge with no added benefit? right?
