Hello: I have a 2013 Ford C-Max. I was hit in the passenger side last summer (2017) and had to have my door was replaced. After that, my horn went out, so I took it back and they said they had to replace the entire steering column. Around the time that I got it back from the horn not working, we were coming home from a long trip, and my speakers popped and I had no sound. Radio buttons and screen were all good, but nothing was coming out of the speakers. We went to the gas station, turned off the car, went into the store, and came back out, started the car, and we had sound again. My speakers have been doing this periodically for months now, I have had it at the dealership 2 times, and they cannot figure out what is going on with it. This week, it has gotten worse, every time I get in the car, the radio comes on for about 3 seconds and then it's out. So if anyone has any certainty to what might be causing this. Please let me know. Thank you!

The stock stereo is okay in the SE -- JUST okay -- but I've been dancing around an upgrade for some time. Last night I ordered an Alpine KTP-445U amplifier and JL Audio C3 convertible component speakers. Frankly I'm nervous whether the amp will screw anything up: Has anybody found a wiring harness by Metra, etc. that plugs into our existing harness so we don't have to cut a bunch of wires? The C-max does not exist in any installer database I could find. Does our radio circuit have at least a 15 amp fuse? (I think 20 is typical for Ford but not certain in our case.) The KTP-445U is a super-efficient digital amp that can share the radio's power wire rather than requiring an amp kit, as long as this is the case. Will the car's active noise cancellation still work, or will the amp mean the out-of-phase sound is too loud and thus increases road noise instead of canceling it? Will the lady that lives in my dashboard retain a normal speaking voice, or will she shout at me? Will my car's blessed exemption from the 12volt battery problems continue, or will adding draw to the system strain it to where it malfunctions? Will cutting wires in the wiring harness to install the amp, threaten my warranty? The cost of the equipment...and installation, in the extremely likely event I leave it to a professional...is daunting enough even before all that...

I am wanting to add an amp and subs to the cargo area. Does anybody know if there is good way to hook it into the factory stereo since it doesn't seem to be a typical stereo? One method I could probably do is tap into the rear speakers to feed the the sub and amp, which would of course mean that the subs would be on the rear channel. Does anybody know if the C-Max has an additional factory amp located someplace else in the car to power the speakers? I have the basic C-Max package. Any help would be great.
