Adair
Has anyone ever done this? At the dealership last night, the IT/SYNC specialist told me it could be done....something about a link to *send to* at the top and then choose Droid or iPhone, and then type in your phone #. Supposedly the next time you are in the car, SYNC will upload the map from your phone. It sounded so simple that I didn't take notes (head slap!) I'm working with 2 versions of Google Maps.......one I created just for grins and one called gmap-pedometer, which my daughter's running coach uses to create each Saturday's running course. I thought it would be cool to have the course on my GPS. But I can't find the *send to* thingy he was talking about. I see where you can send it by email, but not to the phone. zhackwyatt
In google maps on web on a pc, there is a send link for poi's that you can email, or send to a phone. I don't know if that is what he was talking about. You can also download the Sync Destinations app, that you can send directions to sync. First you choose the location in the app, then send to sync. Then in the car, you connect to sync services and it will download the destination into the car.
Sethster
From what I read on the web (note: I am not yet a CMax owner), Google Maps and Ford Sync are no longer linked - see below. I prefer Google to Mapquest. Luckily, you can use the open source Android app "Send To Car" to send Google maps to your Sync system. They state: "This app lets you send an address from Google Maps directly to the navigation system of your vehicle so you don't have to manually type it in." Sync is a supported auto service. Can someone try it and let us know? Thanks. Here's the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jvanier.android.sendtocar&hl=en From Ford: "The Google Send to SYNC feature has been discontinued. The feature will continue to be an option from MapQuest and SYNC Destinations mobile app. Destinations is a complementary app with your SYNC Services activation. SYNC Destinations is available on iOS, Android and BlackBerry devices (check the respective app store for device compatibility). http://boards.synccommunity.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?nav=messages&tsn=17&webtag=fordsyncmb&tid=5752
zhackwyatt
I used the Send To Car app, I like that better than the Sync Destinations because you look up the addresses in Google Maps. It can't do as much as Sync Destinations, but I don't use the other stuff anyways. Sethster
