In the latest issue of "Mechanical Engineering" magazine there was an article by a couple of Ford engineers about hybrids. The focus was Ford's usage of wireless connectivity as a way to help keep hybrid vehicles operating efficiently.

Ford recognizes that managing the battery and other functions are dependant on the vehicle driving patterns. They are trying to use wireless connections to transfer driving data back to computers to calculate and alter the car's parameters. This sounds like something similar to EV+ except that instead of the computation being done on board, it is done remotely.

The article also talked about how the car can operate more efficiently if the battery charge and discharge cycles are managed based on vehicle usage.
