I love my C-Max.

 

I know that there are problems with the software and MFT, etc., but those will eventually get better as updates come along.  I'm mostly concerned with the comfort, feel, and drive-ability of the car.  For me, it's perfect.  I completely understand that when I follow the rules of hybrid driving and the temperatures are nice, I get 47 - 50 mpg.  But I also know that when I drive for fun on the highway in order to get to my location without being bored in traffic, I'm going to lose some mpgs; though I'm still getting in the 40s.  I simply love this car.

 

We're finally closing in on the buy back deal for my Escape, and I must say that my dealership - Jarrett Gordon Ford in Davenport, FL, has worked out the most fantastic deal for me.  I'm glad I chose to buy from a small, family-owned dealership as opposed to the larger dealership in Orlando.  

 

I'm simply thrilled.

 

Now, if only I could get the rest of my life to work out so smoothly...    :)

I'm with you guys! I've had some minor issues with phone/SYNC/earbud not playing nice together, but other than that, nothing. It's been fun to learn, and I find I'm really enjoying the hybrid driving. It is my peace and quiet time on the drive to work and my decompression time on the way home. We have a ways to go before really warm weather is here, but already, with temps in the high 30s, the mpgs are going up steadily. Can't wait for Spring......for a whole host of reason.

 

And I, too, LOVE MY C-MAX!

Posting from a comfy bed at Mammoth, its snowing...yaah. Now I  :wub2:  that to start with.

Great news, at 8500 odo, Maxine is still improving in the MPG with the best run to date 40.4 MPG, best the last run by 2.4mpg. I got to Sherman grade with 43mpg and got murdered by the grade. Temp were 25f with snow flurries from Toms Place.

Wifey said Max looks small on the outside but surprisingly big in the inside. She's still blown away that we carry the same load as a long wheel base Jaguar with a large box. Very utilitarian, plus Max handles great in the snow.

Aside from MFT, some odd liftgate issues, this car is rock solid...gotta LUV that!

Look for a full update next week when I am boarded out  :)

 I've said that from the beginning. II tell everyone it's an optical illusion. I thought it looked so small from the outside, on the test drive, but was pleasantly surprised by how roomy it is on the inside.

ASB and others, I agree.  I took 3 colleagues to a lunch meeting yesterday and they were amazed at the roominess and ride, especially as we were cruising along on electricity and it was Q-u-i-e-t.

 

They even said they could not tell when the ICE kicked in, of course my ears are more attuned to it.

 

When we got back to the office, they saw the mileage for the 8 mile trip was 42.4, so were impressed.

 

The C-Max has its quirks, but I have no regrets!

Great thread!  Count me in on the big L word as well!  Just returned from the dealer, 7 miles, 49 mpg (44+ 'lifetime' (1000 m)). Washed GG up yeasterday, and what a beautiful Opti-Coat shine!  Just loaded up 2400+ songs on a tiny USB drive - brilliant.  It's sunny out, car is shiney smooth, too many tunes, HD, Sirius......... gotta go!  Nick  (Tiny, tiny is the Patriot Axel 64GB USB drive)

I had a car on order since 1/29. Figured I'd be waiting a couple more months, at least. Yesterday, I got a call from my dealership, Soerens Ford in Brookfield, WI. They traded with a dealership down in mid-Illinois for my car (almost). It lacks the Engine Block Heater that is standard in Wisconsin, and has a remote start, which was not on my original order. I chose to not wait for my C-Max, so I took it home. So, not even 24 hours yet. Everything I've used is working fine. Not even any issues with navi maps loading slow. All good, so far. But still have lots of things to check. 

 

With 230 miles on it, the average MPG is only about 29. I know it must have been driven HARD to get it up here. That won't impact future MPG's, will it? 

 

Didn't take long to get 100% from the brake coach.

Robert, congrats on the new ride!!!  Like asb said, go ahead and reset 'your' 'lifetime' mpg now (or in a day or two if you want a little practice hybriding) to wash away those early dealer miles, and watch how your 'lifetime' numbers stack up on that left dash display.  Remember also that the 'lifetime' is only an approximation - the 'real' numbers are at the pump (assuming the odd. is accurate); always record your oddometer then, along with your gas fillup numbers.  Filling up consistantly will give you the real lifetime mpg average over time.

 

Remember that the cold north weather & the remote start will suck mpg's.

WOW Robert!! What a great find! Just a little over a month and you have your new car! You're gonna have so much fun this weekend....and in the coming weeks, learning all about it.

And yes, you can reset your lifetime MPG anytime you want. Start it over with your next fillup if you want..........or tomorrow.......... I'm sure whoever drove it up was driving to get there, not for MPG. Didn't know block heaters were standard in WI. We used to live in Duluth, MN, looooonnnnnngggg time ago.....and some people had them, but not standard.

Love my baby. Love my lil car. I am sure friends are tired of hearing it. :).

 

I never could get use to the garmin gps. But this car? Easy peasy. I changed my settings to avoid highways how cool is that? now I am set to attend the wedding tomorrow night. I am taking the scenic route :). I stopped and programmed dads car. He LOVES his car too.

Got caught in a little rain storm the other day - not a huge deluge like we get in the summer.  But suddenly I saw a benefit to the hugely slanted front windshield.  I didn't even have to have the windshield wipers on.  The rain just rolled up and off the glass.

I tried a trick another owner mentioned about setting tire pressure to 42psi.  I did this to the front tires since they do the driving and I rarely carry a large load in the rear.  The next day as I was driving my commute to Palo Alto, thats in NorCal for those of you east of the bay area.  Right away I noticed on the trip 1 screen that my mpg had gone as high as 41.9 (just cant seem to pull out a 42).  Before changing the tire pressure I never got more than 40.9.  As hard as I try being fuelish I still barely pull out a 500mile tank, like the one I'm finishing today.  It is a beautiful almost spring sunny day in the mid 60's here, sorry those of you in the freezing cold.  Even so I'm not able to pull out 42+ mileage.  Not sure what it will take to get there?  Maybe my Max needs adjustment?  I'm very jealous of those of you who are regularly seeing high 40's and even some 50's.

What's your odo? 

 

Also learn to feather your pedal, you don't typically need 100% EV when u are cruising, plus try keeping 0-15mph EV and then kick in the gas, that saves u a lot of gas. Pulse & glide is another fun game to use. Also peruse the Fuel Mileage section of this site if u haven't already. I am running 45 psi in my Maxine. Pm me if u have any other q, I'll be glad to help :)

What does the coaching screen say about your driving?  Perhaps you aren't doing something correctly?  If your driving is fine, then I would contact the dealer.  This morning it was in the 40s and I was late for work, so I drove like a maniac.  I got 38.  On the way home, I drove normally and got 47.
