ArizonaEnergi
Is there any way to turn off the rear sensor alarm? The manual on page 221 indicates there is a button for this but I cannot find it on my Energi. When I have the bike rack installed it is right in front of the center sensor and the alarm is activated as long as the car is in reverse. It's very annoying. RachelnLa
Mine is next to the parking assist button, which is on the right hand side below the ac readout. It's ac, floor, dash, etc. ... Then park assist and then sensors.
MikeB
The button on the dash for the Hybrid is used for EV Mode on the Energi. But in my Energi, whenever I'm in reverse, there's a popup window on the left dash display to turn off the rear park assist. Looks like just the down arrow button on the wheel will get you what you want.
valkraider
In the Energi (at least the SEL with MFM and park assist) the button is on the center console, below the climate controls. Second button from the right, has what looks like a "P" sneezing on a traffic cone, with the word "OFF". That disables the parking sensors. From left to right mine goes: Passenger Airbag indicator (looks like a button but isn't - it's just a light)EV mode buttonRear defrost button(Empty gap)Fuel door buttonAuto Park assist buttonParking sensor disable buttonRear hatch button
ArizonaEnergi
Thanks all. On mine without parking assist I don't have the "Auto Park assist button and Parking sensor disable button", but I do remember seeing the message on the left readout but assumed it meant just the rear camera. It's okay with me for the times we have the rack on to not have the camera, so will test that and suspect it will do the job.
zhackwyatt
If you don't have the parking assist, there aren't any sensors on the front for when you get close. Surprised that they remove the button for the rear though.

Tdefny
Doh! I just knew I would regret not getting the parking assist one day.
valkraider
I wonder why they didn't just use the same 4 button panel but with a blank for park-assist. Very strange. There are some strange UI choices in these cars. For example - why is there a "doors are locked" indicator light on the MFT physical controls that looks like a button but isn't a button? These oddities abound in the C-max...
ArizonaEnergi
As predicted, the Rear Park Aid display appears in the left display when I shift into reverse. I can set it to off to silence the alarm until I next turn off the car. This does not shut off the rear camera. This alarm can also be set to default to off in the Setup menu. So problem solved. Thanks all.
Mama Hen
My 2014 hybrid does not have a button on the dash to silence the rear-back up alarm. With my bike rack on the alarm is always on when I am in reverse. My dealer says that the alarm is part of a " module" and it cannot be disabled. Does anyone have a solution? What is the "setup menu"? Thanks!Love my car
kostby
The relevant Rear Park Aid control info and Information Display instructions begin on page 88 and continue on page 96 in the 2014 C-MAX Hybrid owner's manual. If you haven't already downloaded a pdf copy to your computer or tablet, I recommend doing it. It's much easier to find things using search! http://www.ford.com/cars/cmax/brochures/?gnav=footer-tools Select the Settings menu using the up/down buttons on the left side of the steering wheel control. The information you're trying to view and change appears in the Left Information Display screen to the left of the speedometer. Page 88 shows that the Settings menu of the Left Information Display is the fifth "Up/Down" selection Then skip to page 96: So, once in Settings Display Mode, Right arrow to Menu Level 2, Driver Assist; right arrow to Menu Level 3, Rear Park Aid; right arrow to Menu Level 4, ON/OFFAt this point an up/down arrow should allow you to change the setting from ON to OFF, and then OK to save the change.
