Here we go...1st Check Engine today

I have had 15,600 miles of trouble free engine and today as I was cruising along in EV, the Check Engine popped up. Great. Not.

Luckily I was on my way to Galpin Ford anyway to have my 3.5.1 done so they'll take care of it.

This car has been totally awesome, only issues was with the MFT and liftgate which every Tom, Dick and Harry early CMax adopter had and Maxine has been giving UNREAL mileage so I am rather bummed at this time

Bill Parks at Galpin gave me a Mazda 3 to drive for the time being. Not a bad lil car, more Spitfire like than the biplane Focus I had last time. Very quiet too. Whatever it is, I am positive Galpin willfind it and resolve it...heres to hoping it doesn't take too long but alas, I think they will ruin my MPGs for the tank though, I was on the MPG gravy train (see the 50+ thread).......ssssh.

:waiting:

Saw another CMax owner bring her Ruby Red in, not sure what the issue was but she looked at me and I looked at her. Both of us bummed to be there.

I feel your pain brother! Mine is still in for the weekend......short road trip with my 88 y/o mother this morning in the Focus and I thought it would take a fork lift to get her out of it!!!! Plus it was loud and jerky in the starts.............but, as I kept telling her.......at least they gave us a car to drive...............

BUT I miss my C-MAX!!!! For all the reasons you all know so well!

Thanks for the well wishes Adair & ScubaDadMiami....so here's the deal with the Check Engine. It's a TSB 13-02-05 caused by the SD Card. Part# DM5Z19H449AA. Who would have thought a little tiny SD card can bring up the dreaded Check Engine.

Now the 3.5.1 is done - Galpin Ford did a great job, seemless. As for my opinion - some nice spanky new screens and the temperature is now displayed - but we all knew that. However, I don't see any significant improvement and based on observing the navigation I thought the 3.1.3 tracked the car better and 3.5.1 brought no new speed in the fresh. It didn't lose track and drove on the houses like it once did with my old GPS module but right now, I don't see any real significant improvement. My 2c.

No comment on stability since this will need time. Galpin chewed up a bit of gas driving my Maxine, I gave them it to them at 59.4MPG and got it back at 53MPG. Wow, some lead foot technician

By the way, the Mazda 3 was quite a nice car, I thought it was better than a focus in terms of sound insulation and driveability.

Not that I wanted to wish a long term stay for Maxine but I was hoping if the 3 had the new skyactive drivetrain you'd get to keep it for a week or so and give us a mpg review.

so even the mods arent immune to problemsin the Max. :(

jus - i think you meant to say the dreaded "CEL" not the dreaded " SD Card"

No, SD card is right - per Galpin documentation and the TSB number is correct. Technician said the code pointed to it as well.

Mods aren't immune to anything - don't know if you notice but Adair's Jelly Bean is still in the shop. But I have to say - every issue I have had I take to my guys at Galpin - Bill Parks and his manager Tom Swire and they always take care of it. I was especially impressed with the GPS issue so I cannot say enuf about these guys so any lurkers here from San Fernando, you can't go wrong with Galpin.

in the 1st sentence you said the SD card caused the CEL issue. but in the 2nd sentence you say the SD card caused the SD Card, which is impossible and different than the 1st sentence, hence my correction statement. reread it. :p

Watch it: the grammar police are prowling! :salute:   ;) Must be due to the lack of your Max.  Hope you get it back soon!

Me too Ron! I've discovered I've become a bit of a *car snob*. I don't LIKE driving *other* cars!  (But it's better than no car at all, right?!)

Besides, his QC needed a little QC  :hysterical:
