ArizonaEnergi
I had never heard of these dots so I went out to look and there they are! I also never heard of someone putting external tape to cover them. I have 5% tint in back and think taping over these dots is unnecessary and OCD. I'd remove it. Here's a picture of the pattern. plus 3 golfer
After seeing the pics of the black tape, I think I like the silver dots better. :)
stloumax
Yes, no question, I agree with you all. And it somewhat distressed me when I saw it when i got home (hard to spot it when i picked it up). Thanks for attaching the photo with the dots. That was exactly what I was looking for, and I would take a smooth glass surface any day as well. ScubaDadMiami
I'll have to look at the window again. I never noticed the dots. I certainly don't have anything on the outside.
TopherTheME
For those of you who have the 3M Crystalline tint, may I ask how much you paid? I'm thinking of getting 70% on the sides and rear and 90% on the windshield.
salsaguy
Why did you have the # dealer # do the tint for you instead of a real tint shop that would do it the way YOU wanted it and most likely a better job and for cheaper??:( I was disappointed that Ford decided not to added the privacy glass (tinted windows) to the rear windows as was done on my three previous Fords. Either way I decided to have them tinted and here are the results. I went with Suntek CXP 35% on fronts and 18% on the rears and back window. If you've tinted your C-Max lets see the pics and don't forget to mention what percentage tint you used. salsaguy
Huh what white dots? What do they do? Mine goes in tomorrow for 15% all around. I’m concerned about the tint not laying on the “dot matrix” dots on all the stationary windows. It leaves that ugly white line around the edge of the window where the dots are. I checked a bunch of shops and no one would guarantee a perfect job.
salsaguy
Tint isn't only for heat and uv protection bit also to avoid/cut down on glare on your eyes when the sun is to your left.with my extreme dry eye syndrome and with that super sensitivity to bright light/Sun, tint is a must for me. And good tint doesn't bubble or peel.or discolor, only the cheap stuff does that. Yes most cars come stock with some form of smoke/tint on the glass to begin with to cut down on uv days and glare. I'd prefer not to have tinting issues that come after the tinting gets old. Oh, and wouldn't getting the remote start option, which allows the air conditioning to cool the vehicle before entry, eliminate the need for the tinting? I had my last car insulated with Dynamat, and that seemed to help with both heat/cold issues and road noise. If I absolutely have to do something, I may just elect to try the Dynamat first, since that is invisible. I live in Miami Beach, Florida. Some places get hotter, but our summers can be pretty bad. I actually ended out getting the tinting. The dealer installed. It is a year later, and it is still looking perfect. The heat in South Florida requires tinting. I just had to take the chance. Marc Smith
on my prius, the tint "sucked" into the dots after a few weeks... so the transision wasn't as noticable...
