Firmware version

We bought our C Max last November and so far have been very happy with it.  It was my understanding though that the firmware on 2013 vehicles was updated to increase mileage.  It was also my understanding that the old firmware allowed battery only operation up to 62mph while the newer firmware allowed it up to 80.  Is that correct?  Is there any way to verify what revision the car has short of taking it to the dealer?

Thanks!

Jason

Jason,  yes there are several ways, and someone will answer more definitively for you, or refer you over to another thread on this.  But for now, one sure way is to hit the freeway and run it up to 70 mph, for example, and hit the eco cruise and watch it switch into EV (battery operation as you say).  I am guessing that your C-Max has been updated since last August, I believe.  Welcome aboard and enjoy the C-Max.

Welcome to the site Jason.   :noobie:

You can go to this ford site:  http://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleSelection.do   and enter your VIN under the "Vehicle" tab just to the right of the "Home" tab.  It will then list any outstanding actions that need updating.  The economy update was issued last August so it stand to reason that yours was updated before you purchased in November but we're talking about local dealers here so............  :drop:  :lol2:

Thanks!  Says I need 12M02 under Outstanding Field Service Actions which looks like it just deals with Sync/MyFordTouch.  Under Vehicle Software Information it just says information is available for my vehicle.  Under Software | Changes and Upgrades it says the info I requested isn't available at this time.  Under the Summary tab both Modules and History are blank.  Thanks for the link.  Still not sure what rev our coax is at though.

Hmm, it's never entered EV mode above the low 60's.  And I've tried lol!

To see if you have the newest software:

1 - make sure the car is up to temperature.

2 - get its speed above 70, 75 would be better,

3 - on a flat section of road (or a slight downhill is better) let off the gas

The car should drop into EV mode before it slows to 62MPH.

If you use the Empower mode on the left display, you should be able to see the threshold of where the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) runs and EV mode is.  If you are not sure what the different displays are on the left, watch this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wl_e-Sx5g-w). At the 2:43 mark, they discuss the "Empower" display.

Hope this helps.

Yep, I've done that, repeatedly, trying to get it to kick into EV mode.  Never does until it drops below 65.  Guess I'll call the dealership and ask them to take a look.  They traded to get the car to sell to me so not their fault but if the car wasn't updated that kind of sucks.  Oh well!
