Nvstig8tr
I have a down payment on a 2013 Oxford White C-MAX SEL with 29,000 miles and I'm a little concerned about having factory warranty coverage since it came from a rental fleet. Does anyone know if the remaining factory warranty will transfer with the vehicle? The price we have agreed is $20,900 which seems quite reasonable for northwest Florida and well below estimates by NADA and Kelley Blue Book. In addition to being an SEL, it has the 302A Equipment Group (premium audio & navigation pkg, hands-free technology pkg, power lift gate, rear view camera, and keyless entry/start/tailgate. It also has the panoramic sunroof and daytime running lights. I would really appreciate some quick feedback so I can decide to close this deal in the next day or so. The salesman (not a Ford dealer, but highly respected local used car dealership) advised that he thought the warranty would transfer. I plan to use this vehicle as a work car. I am a background investigator and most of my travel is city with an occasional long trip (quarterly) to work for 3-4 weeks in a major city location. Thanks so much!! ptjones
I'm sure the warranty will transfer, but you can go to your local FORD Dealer and verify that and extend it if you wish. Sounds like a good price and it has the same equipment as mine, it's great. :) Paul
shinytop
I live in Pensacola and my wife works for a local auto auction house. If you want to PM the dealer name I can tell you whether they are respected in the local industry. Jus-A-CMax
Jus-A-CMax
@shinytop - thanks offering your services, very nice gesture indeed @Nvstig8tr - you need 4 more posts to turn on the PM function. Unfortunately, that is a requirement of the Board as spam control. 4 posts is dead easy, Theres so much topics here. Also make sure you get the Nav card and its at least "A4" version. Latest is A5 but that costs money since Ford is not offering it as a free upgrade to the existing owners. Its crap, I know.
shinytop
@Nvstig8tr ... Did not think about the PM restrictions. Go ahead and give me the name and I will check with the boss. OH, and a couple of us got the A5 update from ebay for around $40, a lot less than Ford charges. Nvstig8tr
Thanks, everyone! I had planned to call Ford's customer service line tomorrow and ask them directly. I have never purchased such a new vehicle with remaining factory warranty, but I read somewhere that former rental cars were ineligible for the warranty program. Maybe (hopefully) it doesn't apply to Ford. ShinyTop: The dealer is Frontier Motors on Beverly Parkway.
shinytop
Wife says they have a good reputation. She sends people there who are thinking of buying used retail.
Nvstig8tr
@ShinyTop: Thanks for checking. I've been kicking the tires at Frontier for several years, but never got serious until now. I'm losing my fleet vehicle in a few days and I'm transitioning to a similar position with a company that does not have a corporate fleet. They plan on paying me $ .56/mile so my first thought was "hybrid."
Laurel
I guess the C-Max is worth more in the States than in Canada. We are thinking of trading in our 2013 SEL with 12,000 miles on it, and this is what our BCAA Black Book comes up with, and we find the Black book is generally pretty optimistic compared to what dealers offer. Depending on your vehicle's condition, the value may be appraised higher or lower than the prices shown. Based on the kilometers you have entered, your vehicle would fall above the Average Trade-In price shown. Vehicle : 2013 Ford CMax SEL Hybrid 5D Hatchback Options : Navigation System , Panorama Roof Average Trade-In † : $15,650 Average Retail : $18,200 † Less reconditioning costs
mtb9153
Trade it in??? Laurel what are you thinking? Just kidding, I'm sure you guys have good reasons for considering this.

C-MaxSea
Nvstig8tr, this post may be of interest to you. Is Ford offering 'extended warranties' on 'certified pre-owned' 2013 vehicles, or is it a dealer add-on ???http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/4322-extended-warranties/?do=findComment&comment=49558 Edited September 15, 2014 by C-MaxSea
Laurel
My husband really wants more technology such as adaptive cruise control, crash warning, lane departure etc. I can't really fight him on it as we are both in our mid 60's and those features are more important as you age. I know when we had our Lexus SUV the crash warning (not sure of the proper name) saved our lives on the LA Freeway when we were on holidays traveling at 80 mph (just keeping up with the slower traffic LOL) . It felt like God had intervened when the brakes came on automatically and thrush us forward in our seats, but that kept us from going under a big flat bed truck that had just swerved into our lane. We may keep the C-Max as a second car if we do the trade as it is hard to swallow the loss we will take. We paid $34,000 in the Fall of 2012. Hubby is aghast at prices of SUV's with all the features--so who knows what we will do. Maybe do nothing and use the money for a Tahitian holiday?? Nvstig8tr
Thanks for sharing your insights! I took the plunge and got the C-MAX last Monday. Looks like I may hit 500 miles on the first tank! So far the tank average is 41 mpg (about 50/50 highway and city. I still have half a tank to go. Drove 6 miles on Friday night to get a pizza and got 67 mpg. We traded my wife's 2012 Jeep Patriot Limited and avoided a HUGE sales tax hit, then we found a car for her yesterday...a 2013 Nissan Cube (certified pre-owned) with 31K miles. She's thrilled with the Cube.
Laurel
Congratulations on the C-Max. We have enjoyed ours. Now to the Cube LOL. They are so cute. I'll be curious to hear some reports on what you thinks of her Cube down the road.

scottwood2
Congratulations on the C-Max and the Cube. The Cube was on the short list for my next car too.
Nvstig8tr
Actually, the Cube is the coolest-looking of our two cars. I love it, but I wanted a hybrid for a work car and the C-Max SEL is amazing. Absolutely LOVE the Sony Nav/Entertainment system and the HD radio is hard to beat. I'm a classic country music lover and I never realized that one of the Top 40 Country stations in town broadcast classics on channel 2. The technology in this car is just hard to match!!
