Marc Smith
Hey folks, I'm in the beginning stages of thinking about changing and old fridge out to a kegerator... My plan is to to take my side by side fridge and set it up to handle two pony kegs. My ultimate hope is to get a corny keg and try my hand at home brewing...And brewing to fill a small keg is, I think, easier than bottling... any thoughts from the home brewers out there.... the down side to this...I loose a lot of space in the basement fridge, which would probably upset the spousal unit... fbov
With a side-by-side, you have some interesting options... one classic use for old refridgerators is converting them to smokers. Then you could have beer with your BBQ or BBQ with your beer, whichever you prefer! Frank
Marc Smith
doing that already...
Marc Smith
Well I borrowed a couple empty pony kegs. no major problems with fitment. only lose one door shelf. I will have to build a minor "L" shape shelf the keg that sits in the back rests partially on the compressor hump. When full I think the keg might have a tendency to rock forward as it would be more top heavy. and I'd rather err on the side on of caution. No point in having spilt beer :) So I ordered up the conversion parts

Marc Smith
ok, a lot has happened. I ordered the supplies, and they got delivered, found a pinlock corny keg at a yard sale for $5, picked up two empty 1/2 kegs at work (free) and drilled some holes in a perfectly good refer... I have two pony kegs reserved for tomorrow and I have to get the CO2 tank filled
