DaveofDurham
Anyone tried or seen this? Junojumper - 7 ounces, 12 volt output at 300 amps http://junopower.com/products/junojumpr-junojumper-most-portable-jump-starter
obob
I have one of these which seem like a similar thing but they claim 400 amps. It gives me peace of mind, though I have never used it. I like that it is small. http://www.amazon.com/PowerAll-PBJS12000-R-All-In-One-Battery-Starter/dp/B00KSG4NGI/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1419221568&sr=1-1&keywords=PowerAll http://www.amazon.com/PowerAll-PBJS12000R-Rosso-Portable-Starter/dp/B00D42AFS8/ref=sr_1_2?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1419221568&sr=1-2&keywords=PowerAll Mostly excellent reviews though there are reports when it did not work (As I recall due to some voltage thing, not high enough.). I paid $95 for mine. Here is one that may be more powerful than mine, though probably a bit heavier. It also has good reviews. http://www.amazon.com/Spirit-A8-Emergency-Ultra-bright-Cellphone/dp/B00KBINF7G/ref=pd_sbs_auto_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=0KM6QBFSQMCKT65JB256 Edited December 22, 2014 by obob
Adrian_L
I'm curious as the what happens when you jump-start a dead C-max. Does the ICE turn over immediately or does the green "ready to drive" light come on and the car is running on electric? If it is the latter, I don't think amperage would be an issue with the booster pack.
plus 3 golfer
I'm curious as the what happens when you jump-start a dead C-max. Does the ICE turn over immediately or does the green "ready to drive" light come on and the car is running on electric? If it is the latter, I don't think amperage would be an issue with the booster pack. ICE is started by MG1 via the HVB not by the 12V battery. The 12V battery provides power to the 12 V control modules and electronics. If the 12V battery voltage is above certain threshold levels, the car should be ready to drive when turned on via key or push button. If conditions require ICE to start it will start (accelerator pushed to floor for example). Bottom line is that 12V battery current will be virtually the same regardless of whether ICE starts or not. There is no high 12V cranking amps to start ICE in the C-Max as there is in a car with a conventional starter. obob
