wwwcheng
The AM radio works on some AM stations but failed to listen to the Chinese channel AM1430. At first I think it can be the carrier problem in broadcasting the signal. Now I just purchased a C Max Energi and confirmed that it is the radio rather than the broadcast. Any advise. fbov
Welcome to the forum! My first bit of advice is to add more information to your question. There are many stations broadcasting at 1430KHz in the AM band, but you don't say what city's broadcast you're interested in. I have to guess LA, so San Gabriel is close enough. This link contains links to the daytime and nighttime broadcast pattern. If you aren't in an area where they broadcast, you shouldn't blame the radio... Day/night will make a big difference, as will your exact location. Remember that there's a 5,000 foot "hill" just East of the transmitter, and Mt Wilson isn't an isolated peak. Night power won't make it over the ridge, and daytime power levels will be heavily shadowed, even at these wavelengths, if you're in the mountains. Have fun,Frank
wwwcheng
I mean AM1430 in LA. Now I have 2 C Max side by side and the Energi received the signal while the hybrid does not. I know the two radio systems are not exactly the same. I think since the Energi can receive the signal clearly, the broadcast is OK. So the problem most likely on the radio. The hybrid use to received the same station without problem. I notice the signal is better in day time. It should apply to both car. Thank you for the link to the broadcast pattern. Kelleytoons
Could be an antenna issue -- you might try taking the car to your dealer and seeing if they can check things out -- the antenna could have gotten disconnected or otherwise improper. That would be my hunch, since the radio mechanism itself is so simple there isn't much to it and if your radio is receiving other signals the radio itself is probably just fine. If that particular station is weak then any issues with an antenna will show up.
