Salwolfe
I saw this on one of the Forum answers: "DHA only use the ICE, if, the HVB is full" OK, what do these acronyms stand for?
Salwolfe
OK. internal combustion engine and high-voltage battery. Now, to DHA
plus 3 golfer
I assume DHA = Down Hill Assist . HVB = High Voltage BatteryICE = Internal Combustion Engine If I'm right on DHA, the statement "DHA only use the ICE, if, the HVB is full" is incorrect as written. DHA will also use ICE to maintain speed going downhill if speed cannot be maintained by regenerative braking (traction motor used as generator putting load on the wheels and producing electrical energy which is stored in the HVB) even if the HVB is not full. Salwolfe
Great. Thank you. I'm brand new to this vehicle and trying to learn the ins and outs.

My speed simply increases. To date, I've not had the ICE come on during a downhill at all. But maybe the Energi is programmed differently. I'm assuming the reference to DHA is really "Grade Assist" as I know members use the words down hill assist when referring to Grade Assist. So are you saying that pushing the Grade Assist button does nothing in your Energi as that is what I'm referring to? The Grade Assist quote from the manual below appears to apply to the Hybrid and Energi. "Grade assist:• The grade assist lamp in the instrument cluster isilluminated.• Provides additional grade braking with a combination of enginemotoring and high-voltage battery charging to help maintain vehiclespeed when descending a grade.• As the vehicle determines the amount of engine motoring andhigh-voltage battery charging, you may notice the engine speedincreasing and decreasing to help maintain your vehicle speed whendescending a grade." I generally use the L instead. The hill I regularly drive is pretty steep and the grade assist does very little. I can feel some effect when using either mode, as the regen kicks in. But I've not seen the RPM gauge come on (i.e., indicate the engine is spinning) during these events. I know it can activate, it just never has for me. It happened all the time on my Escape hybrid. But as I said, the Energi might be different due to the larger HVB and capability to absorb charge. Adrian_L
My favourite acronym is "NRG" for the C-max Energi model. I guess those extra two letters are just too exhausting to type. If anyone uses "K" instead of "OK", I will block them immediately ;)
