Hitch mounted carrier for gas powered Aprilia scooter

Has anyone tried using the Curt class 2 hitch #12092 (rated at 350 lbs) with the VersaHaul Motorcycle Carrier (#VH-50CC)?  

 

I've been thinking about this combo to haul my 200 lb 50 cc Aprilia scooter (think Vespa if you don't know what the Aprilia is).  The carrier weights about 50 lbs so the tongue weight capacity of the Curt is not surpassed. This carrier is the only one I could find that would fit the 1.25" (class 2) receiver.

Tongue weight is straight down. If you put a 200lb scooter on a carrier, the force on the unibody will be far greater. The hitch will be fine. It's 350lb rating is irrelevant. It's your CAR you should be concerned with

Just to close the loop on this...  I did pose the question to Curt (the manufacturer) and the answer I got back was:

 

"This hitch will not stand the stress placed on it when used with a scooter carrier.
