valkraider
It learns where you live or park regularly, and when you het close yo those places It allows the battery to drain a little bit more than usual providing just a tad more electric range and power - knowing that you will be stopping soon. StoBro2
I wonder if it gets confused if you're only driving past your house to go somewhere else? *OK, getting close now. I'll switch to EV+ mode. No, wait! You didn't stop! NO FAIR!!*
valkraider
I've done it. It switches in and then out again. :)
Fits2at
EV+ came on for me on Christmas Eve. I had been at my parents house and ran home (5 min. away) to let the dog out and it came on. I had only had it turned on for maybe 4 days. It hasn't learned my work yet. Maximus
Is there an EV+ light that illumiates when its in that mode?
PWBarrett
Yes, but not a light exactly - right where it normally says EV, it changes to EV+
wamba2000
I like the EV+ feature. My car figured out where home is within 4 days of driving, but has not yet recognized the office. It's only been 2.5 weeks so far, heck I am still on the original tank of gas that the dealer provided, between 1/2 and 1/4 now. Will fill when it gets below 1/4. The EV+ kicks in for home about about 4-5 city blocks on the way I drive daily. This is a cool feature!
C-MaxJaxon
Parking in different parking spots at work may confuse the EV+ GPS tracking. But I've never seen alot of value in EV+ as long as the battery charge isn't low and the engine is warm. It will frequently go into EV mode for some distance before EV+ engages. valkraider
EV+ simply allows the battery to be drained slightly more than normal. That's all it does. So if you have a full-ish battery already then EV+ isn't going to really make much difference. If you turn on a display mode which has the EV threshold you can see how EV+ changes behavior. When the battery is lower than a certain point, the EV threshold is very small, and almost any time the accelerator is pressed you exceed the threshold and the ICE kicks in. When driving with a low battery and that threshold is tiny - when EV+ kicks in the threshold will increase back to almost normal levels, which if you're on neighborhood or slow speed streets means you will be able to drop into EV mode much easier. If the battery is already full enough that the EV threshold is high - then EV+ won't really have any impact.
DaveofDurham
EV+ recognizes my home, but has not yet recognized anywhere else. If I add a location as a favorite destination in the navigation system will that automatically make it an EV+ destination. I think that would be a good feature if it not already built into the system.
wamba2000
Drove back to the office from lunch today and EV+ finally recognized the work location. Lucky I have an assigned parking spot, so keeps going back to the same GPS coordinates. Took 2.5 weeks to recognize, with a couple days out for travel.
