mtb9153
Maxis has a strange habit of quickly losing all stored battery reserves once I turn off the ignition. By that I mean, lets say I just pulled in the driveway with almost a full charge showing. I go in the house but I comeback in 5 minutes to drive off again. I push the start button and there’s a horrible shaking as the engine kicks in. The battery on the instrumentation panel shows basically zero. Where did all my electrical reserves go? There isn’t an electrical drain running that I know of? This doesn’t happen every time, sometimes I can come back and start after 30minutes and my reserves are still there. This can’t be good? However it has been happening for over a year or more.
SnowStorm
What happens after the ICE starts? Does it take a while (several minutes) to build up the state of charge (SOC) or does it pop back up to a "normal" value almost immediately? How hot is the ambient temperature when this happens? It seems the SOC can change significantly if the battery heats up or cools down. But losing all indication in a few minutes certainly doesn't sound right. Maybe the cooling fan isn't working or there is some other intermittent problem with controls or sensors (as opposed to the battery cells themselves being the problem). ptjones
mtb9153
It happens regardless of outside temperature. When it happens the power builds up again but not instantly within a few miles.
fbov
That sure sounds fishy... too bad Engineering Mode doesn't show HVB status. I'd leave it with Ford for a night to see if they see anything. Best of luck,Frank
ptjones
ScanGaugeII shows me what the state of Charge(SOC) is if that is any help. Paul
