grege
FYI...Ford recalling some 2011 - 2015 plug-ins due to cord-catching-fire issues: https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/ford-ev-charging-cable-recall/ Easy recall. Exchange your charging cable. Done. Greg
jmcgliss
Wish the announcement had said "Ford Hybrid vehicles are not affected since they do not use charging cables to obtain their 700+ mile range".
SnowStorm
The actual Ford announcement explicitly states the affected vehicles, assembly plants and build dates. Any confusion will come from "the cloud" which is very good at making something that is very clear into something very hazy! For example, two articles I saw start with a close-up picture of an SE HYBRID logo! Too much trouble to find an ENERGI logo I guess. According to Ford the problem can be caused by defective/improper outlets. Some articles say that 3 fires were from use of extension cords and the cause of another is inconclusive but likely not the cord. So, people don't follow instructions, outlets are junk, but its Ford's problem somehow. ;)
jmcgliss
If we only had a brash national leader who would let people have it: "To all you stupid mopes who can't follow instructions, don't research your purchases, and have no common sense - blaming others will no longer be tolerated". One can hope.
