The pole one looks bad but if you look carefully, the driver seat goes away from the impact area. Damage is still done though especially to the hip and thigh area, not good. Moral of the story, just don't go smashing into a pole on the side.

 

However, what I would have luved to see is a tbone by another car. IMO and experience, that would be more realistic.

Thanks for the links C-MaxJaxon, thats very, very informative. As I posted very early on when I joined this forum, there is a pin and hole in the rear passenger door and thats crucial  for bracing the door and protecting the cabin as this video demonstrates. Nice to see this feature working and stopping the collape on a direct side on tbone.

Somehow it managed 5 stars for that test - a heck of a lot of damage, but also a heck of an impressive test.

Thanks for the links. Was trying to find this before I purchased, but after buying the car, the ratings are reassuring. Did not think the pole side test was too bad. This is especially welcome given the Prius V's relatively poor results on the IIHS results (the other car I was considering).
