wamba2000
I can not find a reference to this in teh manual. Maybe another owner can help? With other vehicles with keyless entry/proximity ket and with the "access lighting" built into the outside mirrors, when you approach the vehicle with the key fob, the access ligthing would illuminate to show the ground near the door. My SEL only turns the lighting on when I open the drivers door. I normally do not use the fob to unlock the doors, pressing the door handle button instead. Is that why it acts this way? Any advice is apprciated. I can't seem to find a setting for this, and my wife really likes to have the lighting kick in as you approach the car. Laurel
I just went to the garage to try what you asked. Lighting comes on when you open the door with fob in your pocket, but to get it lit before you get to the car you need to press the unlock and things light up. Ryan McEachern
Laurel, I agree that this is the way it works, and I don't think it could work any other way? If it was set to light up when you came close to the car, then the car would have to be actively scanning the airwaves and listening for the key to come within range, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. That doesn't seem practical for battery life, but maybe it would take so little energy that it wouldn't matter....
roninsd
I agree as well, Laurel. If you want the lights to come on before you get to the car, you need to hit the button on the fob.
wamba2000
thank you all for the confirmation. My wife's car is a Genesis when you get wihtin 4 feet or so of the door, it actually turns on interior lighting and path lighting on the mirrors.
