Paul, is it possible that Ford created a new undertray for the 2014, and the air dams have attachment points in that new undertray? If I'm correctly envisioning what you've been describing about the air dam mounting points (and no visible corresponding place on your car), perhaps a revised 2014 undertray might explain it?

62Lincoln you are right they look different but FORD has the same part#s in their catalog. I'm thinking of mounting with the three holes and cutting off the three clips. Or I could drill and cut slots for the clips to go in. :)

Above is not the best picture of the air dams but it does look like there are two tabs on the side which mount it to the under car tray? Also a mounting bolt on the front if I remember correctly when I took this picture on a local 2014.  Doesn't quite show in this picture.

My Dealer still hasn't been able to find the part #s for rear air dams, thinking finding a Dealer that actually has 2014 CMAX's to see if they can figure it out. :detective:

Paul Frontier Ford here in town has 2 2014's and 14 2013's and nothing on file in their parts database for either the air dams or the rear window deflectors.

I had the same experience with my local dealer - the Ford database did not show any part numbers. I asked one of our Ford contacts in the other section for help, but they really had nothing to add. I'm really interested in these improvements (including the hood gasket) but for whatever reason, Ford seems to be guarding the info as though it were a state secret.

I think they just haven't updated their data base yet. Sandy Springs Ford had a bunch of CMAX's and they specialize in Hybrids, I wonder If we could get them to find out? Also it looks like you can asks questions on FORDPARTS, need to try that. :)

I finally installed my front Ford 2014 CMAX air dams with two plastic rivets each from AutoZone, easy to do into cover in front of wheels. Will post picture when I can. :)

Ok, someone do the math to figure when the cost for this can be recouped since these are way more than our gas pods ;)

This isn't totally about the savings and fits under the category of Hobby. I was curious if the 2014 make a difference and they're easy to install . :)

+1

Some would say I wasted Fathers' Day and $20+ making an air dam from scratch yesterday... I think I spent $4/hour on entertainment, and got something worthwhile out of the bargain. That's one reason it's taken me until June to get this made... it's a hobby so lots of other things come first.

As Randy Quaid once said, "Payback's a bitch, ain't it?" so I include the cost up-front. That way, any actual benefit is pure profit, even if the benefit is so small there's no winnings to count!  But the car sure seemed to roll nice this morning... same 55mpg, but I'd swear I was going faster whole time!

HAve fun,

Frank

I could put a spoiler across the two air dams. I'm going to work on that now. :)

Mine would have nicely bridged across the two stock dams had they been farther forward. With your upgrade, you'll just want to mind the overlap.

I'm still thinking of ways to integrate the ends with the wheel air dams...

My Dealer's Parts Dept found 2014 front Tire Dams for $35 ea but not the back ones yet. :)

Paul

Hmm, that piece price doesn't seem worth the trouble consider how much it probably affects actual mpg.

I still want to find a P/N for the 2014 rear window air deflectors.  Last check I made at the parts counter didn't show them on the database.

Holy smokes........."Front Fender to Cowl Deflector".  Finally found them.  $70 isn't going to break the bank if it turns out they are superfluous.

Trouble is, both left and right parts seem to have the same part number 16B074.  I'm just going to order them through my local Ford.  Aluminum pop rivets or those autozone plastic things should work nicely.
