First Car Purchase

95 percent of the time, 40.5 MPG. Its really great for us. My soon to be wife, can make it to hospitable (about 100 miles round trip) 4 days a week without a fill up. Honestly, we use to fill our old Nissian Altmia twice a week. Now we hardly put gas in and we are still shocked how well it does on gas. Also, if this CVT holds in there, I don't think I could ever go back to a regular transmission, its so smooth with zero shift points.

Are you sure the engine isn't running?

Just to add a bit.  When the gas internal combustion engine (ICE) is underutilized, the ICE will charge the high voltage battery (HVB) and that can have kind of a drone sound.  It appears to me that Ford changed something that added that drone sound after one of the early software updates, perhaps increasing the rate of charge or changing something to have less wear.  The state can be seen on the default display.  As I recall, on the left there is white bar and possible blue in the bar and above the HVB gauge there is an up arrow indicating charging.

Ah great tip, I know that exact icon. I'll keep an eye out for it, if I hear it again. So far great purchase, I am 6'4 and about 265, and fit great. I was in and out of a ton of cars at CarMax and I liked the CMax the best. Now only if there was a seat memory....ugg big guy troubles.

Oh one down side, when were both in the car, the electric motor is a bit more noisy? Has anyone else noticed its a bit louder under the hood, with extra weight?

Is the noise throttle-dependent?

Many folks have had a problem with the car's noise suppression system, going so far as disabling microphones. The worst I get is a droning sound at certain throttle positions, certain temperatures, certain loads... happens rarely so I can't complain, but some have so YMMV.

Have fun,

Frank
