  1. My EV+ mode engages about 1/2 mile from my frequent destinations. I end up in electric mode for the last 4 or 5 blocks before I reach my house.
  2. The B-pillar trim pieces on all 4 of my doors will squeak a little when you press on them. When driving, they seem to squeak more on hot days. I haven't taken the time to try to isolate a particular spot on the trim that's making the noise. If I find it, I'll see if there's some way to quiet it.
  3. If I only looked at the past month or so, my "lifetime" average would be around 48 to 49 MPG. Unfortunately, I bought my C-Max at the beginning of November and had to suffer through 5 or 6 months of cold weather driving, which is why my actual lifetime average is currently only around 39 MPG. I predict that after a full 12 months, my lifetime average will be somewhere around 43 to 44 MPG.
  4. I bought my C-Max on Nov 3, 2012 too, but you got me beat by a month on the build date. Mine was built 8/23/12.
  5. The birds around here are only interested in my C-Max for target practice.
  6. The "i" tab must be for those units with NAV. I don't have NAV and I don't have a fourth tab in the bottom center of the screen. But the image you have there is clearly a Focus and the image I have on mine is clearly a C-Max.
  7. Is it possible the dealer attempted to download the wrong update? My power flow screen is definitely a C-Max and not a Focus. I had the 3.5.1 update about a week and a half ago with no problems so far.
  8. The AC will drain the HV battery faster, causing the ICE to operate more frequently to keep it charged.
  9. I see you have the pano roof, so your "ceiling" is going to be arranged differently than mine, but in my car two of the buttons switch on different directional LEDs behind the central lens/diffuser to act as map reading lights. The others will switch both on for general illumination (switch "D") and enable/disable the lights on when door opens feature (switch "C"). All of these buttons are in the panel that surrounds the interior light lens/diffuser.
  10. I checked my MFT screen. I do not have NAV, but when I pressed the Where Am I? button, I got a latitude and longitude display. The latitude is correct, but the longitude is a few miles off. It thinks that my C-Max, which is parked in my garage, is sitting on a runway at Waukegan Regional Airport! I got my 3.5.1 update on May 25, less than a week ago.
  11. If you overlay my Fuelly MPG graph with a graph showing the average temperature for the 7 months that I've owned the car, you'll see that the curves match up almost perfectly. My first 600 mile tank and my first tank average above the 47 MPG EPA estimate happened before I got the 3.5.1 upgrade. If there is any sort of tweak to the PCM from the upgrade, I haven't seen it yet.
  12. How about a tax that's proportional to vehicle miles driven and vehicle weight? The need to rebuild existing crumbling roads is proportional to the square of the weight difference- for example, a single 10-ton truck equals the damage created by 25 2-ton passenger cars. The need to expand capacity is proportional to the number of vehicle miles driven. Slapping a tax on a specific technology is wrong headed. First of all, hybrids derive all of their power from the gas in the tank. The technology just makes it more efficient. Plug-in hybrids and full electrics are different animals, and CNG, LNG, hydrogen fuel cells and who knows what other technology is coming eventually. Taxing weight and distance traveled is at least technology-neutral.
  13. That's exactly what it says on my receipt. I got the 3.5.1 update Saturday.
  14. I do my fair share of hauling plants, bags of mulch and other things from the local home improvement center. Once or twice a month I stuff the cargo hold with my gear and head off to my next gig: With a little rearranging, it looks like I'll have room for a third speaker cabinet for my bass rig!
  15. I see that Car and Driver has tested the Prius V again and this time around, they only got 31 MPG versus the 32 they got with the C-Max hybrid. They also recorded lower skidpad speed and identical braking distance to the C-Max. That's interesting because in the C-Max review they mention a previously tested Prius V that got 35 MPG and had better skidpad and braking performance than the C-Max. The C-Max still outperforms the Prius V by a wide margin when it comes to acceleration and the subjective "fun to drive" factor. So the only category where the Prius V prevails is in cargo capacity? http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2013-toyota-prius-v-test-review http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2013-ford-c-max-hybrid-test-review
  16. I should also mention that this particular Ford dealership had ZERO C-Maxes on the lot. One of the salesmen told me they had sold a couple of them, but they were having a hard time getting them from Ford for some reason. Maybe demand is outstripping supply?
  17. I hope you remembered to use anti-seize compound on those stainless steel bolts in the aluminum wheels! You will probably find that the polycarbonate will start to yellow rather quickly upon exposure to UV light from the sun. The headlamp lenses are especially coated/treated to slow down UV degradation, standard sheet stock Lexan rarely is unless it's an architectural glazing grade.
  18. No clock setting via GPS for me. That feature may only exist is cars equipped with NAV. I noticed they also did away with the "Daylight Saving" button. That means it's either completely automatic or completely manual. I just remember with the old software the time change really screwed up the clock. Maybe now its fixed?
  19. In the seven months that I've had my C-Max, I've seen a total of five other ones on the road, and four of those were in the past week. The tally so far: Black SEL White SEL w/sunroof White w/o sunroof Silver Gray They were all traveling in the opposite direction and I didn't get a good look at the last three, so I don't know if they are SEs or SELs.
  20. I will occasionally have issues with the dual temperature controls not remembering to keep different settings and both reverting to what the driver's side is set to. But I've never had the fan come on full speed. I may be wrong, but it's possible the AC comes on automatically when it's in AUTO mode and the wipers are on? Maybe it's not that sophisticated, but I've had a couple of cars where the AUTO setting adds defrost to the output when the wipers are on, and defrost includes AC to dehumidify the air.
  21. I got my 3.5.1 update today! :yahoo: My C-Max SE w/MFT, w/o Nav, has a build date of 8-23-12. I brought my car to the dealer I purchased it from to take advantage of their complementary first oil change. I'm at 8000 miles, which I figure equals about 5000 miles of actual gas engine running time. I also mentioned the missing cup holder divider and the somewhat loose leading corners of the little triangle windows ahead of the doors. Almost in passing I asked if they could check for any available updates to the Sync software. The SA said there was one available so I had them run the update as well. I was skeptical that it was the mythical 3.5.1 update, since it seems forever just out of reach. Well, I now have the time and temperature displayed in the MFT screen, There's another icon at the bottom center that brings up the animated energy flow diagram. The rear seat button for the audio balance/fader has been removed. There may be other changes as well, those are the first I noticed. My EV+ locations have disappeared and my phone needs to be re-paired. But I didn't lose my Sirius presets like I did every time I performed a system reset. Go figure. I also got my cup holder divider thingy and they said they added some double stick tape under the triangle window seals to keep them stuck down better. I'll have to inspect that work closer when I get a chance.
  22. Last week I was driving with the yellow low fuel warning on and "50 miles to empty" displayed. I turned off the car when I got to my destination. A couple of hours later I get back in to drive home and the display jumps up to "80 miles to empty". That gave me enough confidence to stretch to just over 600 miles on the tank before I stopped to refuel.
  23. Minor thread hijack: Jelly happens to be the name of my dog! And now back to the original topic already in progress...
  24. At the risk of jinxing myself, 7800 miles on an SE with 202A and winter packages and no battery problems so far. Build date was August 2012.
