  1. The parking garage at work has narrow spots, so they can cram more cars inside.  I loved the fact that the C-MAX was, for its volume, a narrow car, and I figured I'd have no problem at all.

    I was wrong.

    Found this after work yesterday:

I don't even have my MD tags yet, and I've only been to the office three times, and this happens.  It's right on the edge of the passenger side front fender, so the dent will be almost impossible to fix without removing the panel, and the paint is completely chipped, which means repainting the fender, door, and probably hood as well.

I expected some dings and dents along the way, but not so soon, and not so horrendously big and bad! People have NO regard for other people's property anymore.  It's a disgrace.  I would LOVE to meet the person who did this and ask him/her just what they were thinking.  Do they think it's okay to damage someone else's property?  No note, nothing.  If I damaged someone's car like this, I would have left a note and offered to pay.

A few years ago, my wife and I were at the track (took my Shelby to a high-performance driving event).  Our tent got blown over by the wind and scratched an F-150 Raptor next to us.  We pointed it out and gave the driver our info.  Ended up costing us $700 to repair.  I didn't mind doing it; what I minded was the fact that not ONCE, when I pointed it out, when I offered to pay, or even once repairs were complete and I paid, did he thank us.  Nothing.  Just acted angry and kept wanting to blame us.

I give up on humanity sometimes.  :\

Years back I had a clunky Chevett worth about $500, that I used just to go to work  One morning I parked in the company lot. I was early so I sat in the car getting a few extra ZZZs. A few minutes later a fellow employee that I new, pulled in beside me.  As soon as he opened his door a sudden wind gust ripped the door from his hand and slammed his door in to my  driver side door.  The look on his face was panic and terror. He could not believe what had happened.  I got out and took a look at my car. The dent in my car was right in the middle of the door , six inches deep and 18 inches in diameter!  I casually said to him,"That's ok, forget about it".  He was so relieved. He would not be required to pay $800 to repair a door on a car worth $500.  I didn't like the huge dent in my car, but it sure made me feel good letting him off the hook.

  2. Well I looked at another SE today. The dealership "forgot" to inform me they hadn't moved the car over to the main lot. Looks like manual seat and keyed ignition instead of the push button the fiancé wanted. Oh well....

The cmax manual seat works very good. My last car was a Cadillac CTS with electric seats with memory. I don't miss the electric seats at all.  My wife is 5' and I am 6'. I do miss the memory electric mirrors, a little!

  3. Figured I should join up here so my soon-to-be-wife and I can get some good ideas on getting the best performance out of our C-MAX. We are both new to hybrids but I have a good history with Ford and decided that we would go for the C-MAX when looking for a replacement for her 1998 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport.

I wish I could say we had the car now but it has been a long series of issues, we are SUPPOSEDLY getting the car next week after the headliner recall is completed. About 2 weeks ago now, late on a Friday, my fiancé got a call from a dealer telling her about a Candy Blue C-MAX SEL with Nav and Winter package they had for $26k. She set up an appointment to view the car that Monday knowing this was a great deal because the SE we had spec'd out was $28k. Monday morning arrives and she calls to confirm her appointment that evening and is informed that the car was sold over the weekend. We go to the appointment anyway and have to meet with a different sales rep who tells us there is "no way we could sell an SEL that cheap" and proceeds to price us out for a SE with the paint, Nav, and Winter package. Fine. She applies for a loan, next day gets approval, and we set an appointment to pick up the car Wednesday evening as they have to bring the car from another dealer given the color and options she wants. Wednesday at 1pm we call to verify the car and appointment and are informed that the car can't be sold until the recall they announced....She was nearly in tears, I searched a 3 state area to find a matching car without the recall on it and came up without anything. We are waiting as the car is supposedly going to be ready next week....

Then I read on here that power seats are only on the SEL which means deal breaker, as my fiancé is 5'1" and has fibromyalgia and arthritis so a power seat is a must.....Hopefully the 203A package or Winter Package makes at least the driver's seat powered since the dealer said it had power seats....

I'll keep everyone updated if we get the car after this near month of hoops, hurdles, and heartache.

Sounds like that SEL for $26000 never existed. The old "Bait And Switch" trick

  4. Driving along with the ac on & noticed it was getting a little toasty. Had it set on 74, blower on 3rd bar & recycle on. Kept turning down the temp, even to 60 something & increasing blower speed. Never got any cooler. Started thinking maybe the compressor just died like others have expirenced. Decided to pull over, shut off the car & restart it. Worked fine after the "reboot". Guess it's a typical Bill Gates kind of thing. Doesn't work right, just reboot the system. Anybody else seen this?

I was on an eight hour road trip when this happened to me five times. I got it working again buy pushing all the control buttons including the off/on button. I don't know what combination was correct but sooner or later it would start working again.  I would have the air on speed 2 and it would start getting warm so I would switch to a higher speed with no affect.  I put my hand over the air vent to check the amount of air flow.  No matter what speed I set the fan at the air flow felt like number 1 speed or less. I could hear the fan running at different speeds, but the air flow from the air vent would still be at number 1 or less.   When ever I would get it working normal again it would work for about  30-60 minutes then I would have to repeat the process again.  I only had  trouble on this one day.The next day the air conditioner worked normal and has for the last five weeks.   I guess you're right,    "Reboot"

  5. I had a first model year Cadillac CTS 2003 ($35000. list) --- what a hunk of junk !  I had two problems with it the day I drove it out of the dealership. After two shop visits, one problem was fixed. After six additional shop visits the second was never fixed. I have had many many other problems with the car.  I kept the Cadillac for ten years (68000 miles) then traded it in on my C Max.  I drove the C Max out of the dealership without any problems for the last 1500 miles. I'm way ahead of the Cadillac !  The C Max isn't as pretty, but it rides smoother, is quieter, cost less, has the same amount of room inside, and oh yea,  gets over twice the gas mileage (48.5 lifetime).

  6. I've heard a rather soft but distinct clunk several times when going over a bump or dip in the road.  I think it is in the back but not at all sure.  Haven't tried to investigate yet.

I have heard the same noise but not very often. It sounds like the rear hatch is not latched completely.  I'll take a look at it later but I think this is just the way it is supposed to be.                      1153 miles/ 48.0 MPG

  7. But for two pair of glasses, a visor clip is needed.

Every time I see those visor clips on someone's visor -- I think -- If there was an accident, you could get that clip stuck in your head !       I don't put anything (clips, pens, stick pins..)on my visor, that could get stuck in my head.

  8. If you look carefully, it looks like my shoe might be hitting the panel, the scuff marks on the side is close. Next time it falls off, I'll take it down to Galpin - not sure what they can do as the panel does not seem to be broken.

    What size are your shoes?

  9. I live at the top of a hill. Every time I leave home I drag the brake while traveling down the hill. When I get to the bottom of the hill my battery is completely charged up.  So, don't get a charger or a dyno , just move to a hill top location. you'll enjoy the view better also. I thought all hybrid owners lived on hill top locations
