  1. barrier, offhand, what's your build date?
  2. In-between: I am accelerating a lot more gently when there are no other cars around, but feel the need to demonstrate it's not just another "wimpy hybrid" (i.e. accelerate to block rude drivers from trying to cut me off, or up onramps to match freeway speeds - unfortunately I've got some severely steep onramps to contend with). Worse: I stare at those damn power/fuel economy meters far too much! I think it is severely affecting my awareness of traffic around me. I need to break that addiction. My first full tank is coming up soon, it looks like I'll be hitting around 41MPG. My old car ('01 Hyundai Elantra) managed 26MPG on the same driving patterns.
  3. I don't think there's enough publicly available information to know for sure. I would assume it is in the same memory store that backs the odometer - as opposed to the entertainment or navigation system. I'm not sure why you're asking, though. I assume you're thinking that knowing could give you more information that would allow you to control when it comes on? Are you wondering whether resetting the lifetime fuel economy also resets the EV+ locations?
  4. Is there a Field Day bonus for contacts made from a mobile station?
  5. I suppose at some point they'll saturate the country sufficiently that a spotting is no longer special, though I don't feel quite like I've reached that point yet.
  6. 4 days, 3 C-Maxs! Saw another one: Wound up behind a Sterling Grey C-Max along a road into a hilly suburb of San Diego known for its trains.
  7. I'm curious what your theory is about that?
  8. Interesting, my only MFT freeze occurred the one time I left early (4PM) from work after it had sat in the sun all day.
  9. This is my interpretation as well. Especially when you consider that shortly after a cold-start should be the only time the engine will be running when you are at a complete stop.
  10. The card should be read-only, so I would not expect that even if it were released while driving / in use, it wouldn't hurt the card. But only the programmers know for sure!
  11. Also reporting in from San Diego: Saw a white platinum in a driveway about a mile away from home yesterday… and saw an Ice Storm Energi near UC San Diego tonight. I don't think I've parked at a Jack In The Box recently, so it couldn't have been me!
  12. To be fair, MFT is blamed for a lot of across-the-board complaints. Ford's quality improvements otherwise have been quite remarkable.
  13. I interpret that as "Things are working as designed, but someone doesn't like how it works". That would be things like, if someone complains about how the instrument panel or MyFordTouch is set up, if the AC feels insufficient (with no indication of mechanical trouble).
  14. Well, on a normal car, that would most often come up when the gas cap is loose. However, that shouldn't be an issue with the capless system.
  15. Why don't you hit the power button again to turn off accessory mode? The transmission should remain in neutral, no?
  16. But the engineering test mode does, according to some, display the diagnostic codes.
  17. You'd be well served to read I HAVE FOUND THE ILLUSIVE MPG SWEET SPOT!
  18. I've had this myself but it's very hard to trigger in the rolling terrain I have no choice but to traverse daily.
  19. I tend to think that the harder the rain, the more depressing the music should be. Something French-Canadian, preferably.
  20. I personally believe that PDFs should never be opened in-browser, but that may be due to years of dealing with the shortcomings of the PDF plugins.
  21. You're measuring the low-voltage battery, not the high-voltage battery. That would not affect whether the ICE runs. Before you measure it, make sure the doors are closed, all outside lights are off, all entertainment/IP screens and lights have shut off. Lots of people are getting low-voltage battery levels in that range, me included. But it doesn't affect whether the ICE turns on. From the manual (1st printing, p. 118): If you enabled the Coolant Temperature module in MyView, it will display: There's also this from the Unique Driving Characteristics > Frequently Asked Questions (1st printing, p. 182): Basically what I've noticed is that when I start after the car's been sitting a while, it will stay in EV until it feels the need to recharge the battery or supplement battery power, at which point the ICE will start and stay on until the engine is warm, at which point it operates as expected. Of course, that wouldn't address why your battery is lower in the morning than when you left it. I would expect that you would see a higher level than you saw in the morning. (But you won't be able to probe it with your multimeter). There is nothing on the high-voltage battery that should be draining when the car is not either in accessory mode or drive mode. It is supposed to be completely disconnected by a relay while the car is off - in fact, controlling that relay is the only truly mission-critical function of the 12v low-voltage battery. So if you're seeing that, that could be very bad - perhaps an internal short. If I were you, I would start by documenting it by taking pictures of the battery level immediately before shutoff and immediately after start. I don't think I would attempt to measure the voltage of the high-voltage battery directly.
  22. Well I'm not a high-milage person but I hope to keep it for 10 years.
