  1. Interesting that you say that, drdiesel1.  B/S indeed. The first update was done two weeks ago.  Brought the car back in on Monday when the CEL reappeared.  The Service Manager called me after his first call in to Ford, and told me HE was a little frustrated when Ford directed them to do the update again.  He didn't exactly say it was 'wasting time' but that was the gist of it.  Today he emailed data back to Ford and was again waiting to hear back before he could order replacement parts. Not sure what data he was referring to exactly.  Or what replacement parts.

My guess is that the problem is in the CTS, PCM, or thermostat, since P0128 appeared with P2183 originally.  Gone are the days of reading input and output voltages to determine faulty electronics? Sigh.

If you don't mind me asking, what's your recommendation on OBDII and/or ScanGauge?  I would like access to a little more info and can't decide which way to lean.  OBDII would let me read codes without time-consuming trips to the dealer.   Scangauge would give me realtime data to monitor.   But maybe that would be too distracting.

  2. 1972 AMC Javelin SST with a 304 V8 automatic that would hit 110 with no effort. (What the heck was I thinking?)  The car was red with inverted gold C stripes on the sides, and side pipes that added a nice rumble. (Probably Glasspack.) Janis Joplin belting it out on the eight track... Not exactly an inconspicuous ride.

  3. I'm not a hypermiler, unless you count the 1.7 mile stretch of coasting on my daily commute home.  Wheeeeee.

Chiming in as one of those drivers who may stop a full car-length or more behind you at a stop light:  If the vehicle in front of me is a diesel, spews blue or black exhaust, or if I can simply smell its exhaust - I'm gonna leave plenty of extra room between that stinky ride and my lungs.  I'll close the windows, turn off the fan, check out the location of the offender's tailpipe and veer to the opposite side of the lane as well.  Can you tell I spend a lot of time in traffic?

My Energi is scheduled for production tomorrow! Yay!  Ordered in late March, it's been a long wait.  Soon there will be no more wasting gas and no spewing exhaust onto the car behind me while silently sitting in traffic, ahh.    :)
