  1. That's a nice trick - what was your mileage and warranty status at that point? My 2015 has just over 100,000 miles and the tranny has been noisy for a while but of course right after it rolled over 100k the noise increased by a lot. It's so bad at this point that every time I start the car it whines so loud I'm afraid it's going to grenade right there in the driveway. With the cost of a new tranny running about what the resale value of the car is at this point I'm guessing we're going to just have to replace the car soon. It really does appear to me there are enough of these tranny failures it ought to be a recall item. What happens next will determine whether I ever own another Ford or not. This is my wife's car and I need it to be as trouble free as the 2010 Prius I drive. It's got twice the miles on it and has never given me a lick of trouble, most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. I'd like to keep the C-Max and was hoping to get 200,000 miles out of it but if a new tranny is going to cost me more than the car is worth we're headed for the Toyota dealer.
  2. I'd sure like to get more detail on this procedure. I see dozens of dealer websites that talk about how easy it is to reset the key fob if it stops working but without fail, even if the heading of the section says it works for our cars, the first step is to put the key in the ignition and turn it some specific number of times. OUR CARS DON'T HAVE AN IGNITION SLOT TO PUT THE KEY AND TURN IT. Sorry for screaming but I've been trying to come to some solution for the better part of my Sunday.
  3. It's beyond annoying; it's infuriating. I can't believe Ford took this action just pulling the rug out from under thousands and thousands of customers without the courtesy of even a heads up email. I'm only just now getting my arms around the issue - my modem was replaced back in 2017 or 2018 but I can't find emails with details so I don't even know at this point if I have to get it replaced again or not. Last time this went on for a couple months before I even realized there was a problem and my only clue was when my power bill came in more than 3x what I expected because my car had been charging during peak hours at $0.45/kWh instead of waiting until midnight when rates drop to $0.11. If this is the kind of support I can expect from one of the biggest companies in the world when I spend $40,000 on their product I don't think they can count on me as a return customer. I shouldn't have to prowl the pages of an online user forum several hours a week just to make sure Ford hasn't recently pulled yet another stunt that's going to cost me more than a monthly car payment in excess energy costs.

Thanks for this post - I have the same lamp out and just tried to remove the assembly from the tailgate after removing that plastic screw but the whole thing is pretty stuck in place so I didn't want to force it without verifying that it should just pop loose at this point. I guess my car is 6 years old at this point so perhaps the rubber seals are just a bit sticky and will require some persuasion.
