  1. If you miss getting a photo in the future, you can turn the car on again (accessory on, not started) and back off, and the trip and lifetime summary will come back up. As long as you haven't gone "ready to drive" since your last trip, it'll still display the prior trip's stats. At least that's how it works on my SE, not sure about the SEL. You're doing awesome so far, it'll keep getting better! Out of curiosity, do you have the 13B07 update yet?
  2. Here's my first entry into the club. All of this is post-update, starting at my fill-up immediately after the update. This is tank #3 for me. This is about 50% highway (70mph) and 50% city. Well on track to joining the 600mi club on this tank as well! I'm quite happy with the car so far, and I still have a lot to learn about driving it, plus it's still in the break-in period.
  3. Yes! You should get the update. I've done quite a bit of pre- and post-update testing, and... both my highway AND city MPG improved by about 3 MPG after the update. And since a lot of the update was focused on cold weather improvements, we haven't even seen the best of it yet. There are a couple of annoyances you'll have to get used to (ex: it's more hesitant to drop into EV mode while still warming, high ICE mode is harder to achieve, and it won't shut off at a stoplight if the ICE is still in its initial warmup period), but those are balanced out by all the other improvements.
  4. So far, after having the update for a week, overall I've been impressed. But there is one thing that's really bugging me. There's a stoplight about .25mi from my house, where I nearly always have to sit and wait. Before the update, I'd pull up to the light and it would drop into EV, then the ICE would start as soon as I go again. Post-update, the ICE continues running until it reaches a temperature it's happy with. So, tonight, here I am, sitting at a light, A/C off, with my MPG dragging down to 9, 8, 7, and finally, 6.4mpg before I'm able to go. Ouch. That said, I still averaged 54.4mpg on the trip, but if the ICE would just shut off at that stoplight, I'm sure it would be even better. I've noticed if I can make it to the stoplight in EV mode, then it's no problem. But the second I kick it into ICE after a start, then the ICE continues running until it reaches temperature (thank goodness that temperature is lower than before). With EV+ seemingly being more aggressive, my battery is usually low enough when I home that I can barely leave my driveway without the ICE kicking in on my next trip. FWIW - pre-update, 44.3mpg lifetime; 47.2mpg since the update. Both with roughly half 70mph highway, half city. So, Ford engineers, if you're reading this -- great job overall with the update, but please, please fix it so the ICE still turns off when stopped, even if the engine is still warming.
  5. Most of my city trips are <10 miles... so I think I'd have to attribute it to the shorter warm-up time in the update, it definitely drops out of forced-ICE sooner. Pre-update I'd have a few trips here or there in the 32-35MPG range because of the forced-ICE, post-update I've never had any trip below 40.5MPG, and most of my city trips are above 50MPG. I haven't changed my driving habits. YMMV.
  6. The two tests were roughly 48 hours apart. For some additional data, albeit anecdotal... the weekend before the test we took a long highway road trip and averaged 40.1 MPG. This weekend we took a similar trip and got 44.5 MPG. We also ran the A/C for much of the second trip, but not at all on the first. I've also noticed a boost in my city MPG. I've driven 400 miles since the upgrade, rougly half highway (70mph) and half city, and my current MPG avg is 46.7 -- so I'm quite satisfied at this point. I'm sure there are still some additional tweaks they can make.
  7. Hey everyone, as promised I ran a pre- and post-update highway test at 71MPH... I posted the results in this thread, here: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/2681-recall-13b07-real-world-highway-test/
  8. Hi everyone, As promised I ran a pre- and post-update highway test. Here are the details of the test: 1) Drive from home to a specific point on the highway and reset Trip 2. This was about 10 miles, 7 miles highway, to fully warm up the vehicle and to get the battery charged to its typical highway charge level. (1st row; 0.0 miles) 2) Set the Eco Cruise to 71mph, drive 9 miles, take a checkpoint photo. This is one-way on the highway, somewhat hilly, and slightly uphill overall. (2nd row; 9.0 miles) 3) Exit the highway, U-turn, and head back the other way, again setting the Eco Cruise to 71 mph. Take a checkpoint photo at the same point where I started the test -- 21.3 miles. (3rd row; 21.3 miles) 4) Return home, take another checkpoint photo. (4th row; 30.9 miles) 5) For kicks, I added the trip summary, but the initial charges weren't quite the same. (5th row; 40.3 miles) Between the two tests, the only difference was that the post-update test was about 5 degrees warmer outside, and I had to sit at two stoplights for a while during my U-Turn. Neither should affect the results much. And to answer a question, no, I didn't take the photos, I had a friend do it for me. Here are the results: (Sorry for a couple of blurry photos) In case a couple are blurry, here are the numbers:Pre-13B07 Post-13B07---------------------------------9.0mi (0.0 EV) 9.0mi (0.8 EV)36.2 MPG 38.9 MPG----------------------------------21.3mi (1.9 EV) 21.3mi (4.2 EV)38.7 MPG 42.2 MPG----------------------------------30.9mi (6.6 EV) 30.9mi (10.4 EV)43.1 MPG 46.6 MPG So... bottom line, I definitely gained several MPG from the update. One observation: I noticed that the eco-cruise seemed hesitant to kick into EV mode, so I was spending a decent amount of time in ICE, but even so, the MPG seemed higher. There were several occasions where, had I been driving rather than eco-cruise, I would've dropped it into EV mode based on the upcoming road conditions. So I probably could've improved the MPG even further by driving it myself. Besides that, I've also noticed an improvement in my off-highway MPG. But I haven't tested it to quantify that.
  9. I just noticed tonight that my window strips are peeling back as well. Will have to get that fixed. I also have that weird creaking noise... did you ever get a resolution to that?
  10. Went back to the dealer today, with the link above printed... they said the laptop they used yesterday didn't have the correct update on it. So, if you're going in to get your C-Max updated, be sure to print that and take it in -- it'll save you a hassle later. Now that I have full EV up to at least 72, I'll run some tests on the new update later tonight and will report back with photos.
  11. Had my C-Max in today for the update and the header fix, but like TxTom, the 63+ EV mode didn't take on the first try. Other parts of the update seemed to have taken effect (ex: if the battery is high I can now get a full 2-bar EV accelleration at highway speeds that I don't recall from before; the max height of the blue Engage bar seems to be much more variable based on the battery level at lower speeds; EV+ locations and Regen miles reset), but on a looong downhill at 67mph well after warm-up, the ICE was still on the whole way down. Dealer asked me to call back tomorrow to schedule reapplying the update.
  12. New member here, I'm getting the 13B07 update tomorrow morning... I know you guys were interested in a highway comparison, so I set one up. I did a test run tonight before the update, 9 miles of highway at 70mph on EcoCruise (with 5 miles hwy prior to resetting Trip 2, to get the engine fully warmed and the battery charged up). For the complainers I also recorded when I got back to my starting point at 21.2 miles (which includes a little off-highway for turning around). Took photos of my Trip 2 at the start, 9mi, and 21.2mi. I'll run the same test run tomorrow night, and will post the comparison photos here for everyone to see.
  13. Hi everyone! Been lurking for a while, but just registered and wanted to say Hello! I had been considering buying a C-Max for some time, but had never gotten around to it. I had been driving an 06 Honda Civic Hybrid with 106K miles on it, which I loved, and which had never caused me any problems. My typical MPG in the Civic was 38-43 both city and highway, depending on the outside temperature. The only thing I had been disappointed in was that it was sluggish to accelerate, and that you couldn't put the back seats down to put something large in the trunk. But it was getting up there in the mileage and I had already had the battery replaced once (under warranty, thank goodness) so it was time to move on. I was concerned about the C-Max reviews about gas mileage, but decided that even if I only get 40MPG it's just as good as my Civic. So I finally decided to go for some test drives. I went to my local Ford dealer, test drove the C-Max, and bought it on the spot. I just loved how it drove, how tight the steering was, how despite being a hybrid it still had power. I picked up my new C-Max on July 22nd. Having driven hybrids before, I know pretty much what it takes to drive it "correctly." So far, around town I've been averaging 50-55MPG. Last wekeend we took a long weekend trip, with 4 adults plus a load of gear, and at 70mph we still averaged 40MPG highway. So I'm quite happy, and the car still has a lot of breaking in to do. First tank, half city, half 70mph highway, was 460 miles, and it was only a 10.5 gallon tank. This tank (also half highway) I'm on track for 550. I'm hoping to join the 600 mile club soon. I'm scheduled to get the software update tomorrow morning, we'll see how that goes! Anyway, I'm excited to be a C-Max owner, and looking forward to sharing my experiences with everyone!
