  1. While not keeping a written record of the discrepancy, I've noticed the gallons used in Trip 1 is at least a half gallon less than the pump. For consistency, I've used the same pump this whole century. On my most recent fill, the pump measured three fourths of a gallon more than the vehicle report. (!)
  2. Just for the purposes of documentation, I made my first natural 50+ this morning. Almost a round trip, I started about a mile from the house - nearly the same elevation - and ended at home. Hoping for improvement with increased vehicle miles and better driving technique. http://www.fuelly.com/driver/bemyax/cmax Red Sky graph took a serious dip when cold weather and E10 conspired. We can't do anything about the weather. Definitely sticking to regular grade fuel, however.
  3. It's sad, but it also made me chuckle a little: I just tried calling back to get a better answer. I wasn't argusome, or anything like that. But they wouldn't even say it was okay to leave it on for fifteen minutes while waiting for a train. Oh, brother!
  4. Called Customer Relations with this same question today. I would like to leave the vehicle turned on overnight and maintain a minimum cabin temperature. At first she read me irrelevant stuff out of the owner's manual. Then the gal put me on hold to ask a technical representative. The answer I got back was, No. If someone here can provide a slightly more comprehensive reply, that would be great. It would seem rather foolish to expect the customer to freeze to death in a rest area just because Ford can't commit to how long the vehicle can sit still.
  5. This is my third week. My C-MAX whistles from around 27 to 31 mph. Driver's side only. It's a high pitch, so I figured the leak point is small, but I have no idea where to start looking.
  6. Um ... that was just over twenty-five years ago. I didn't really look ahead thinking I'd be telling about it on a forum. I don't think there are any pictures. If I ever run across the old shoebox of prints, I'll dig through it!
  7. Way back in history I had a 1983 Ford Escort which got around 32 mpg on the highway. The boys and I needed more room for camping gear, so I rigged together a modified teardrop shaped motorcycle trailer to pull behind it. On the trip that summer I ran at 35 - 38 mpg. I've only filled the CMax once and I'm toying with the idea of a trailing teardrop aerodynamic prosthesis for highway driving. Crazy, huh?
