  1. I read some stuff online when I was researching cars. That's how I found about the C-max. I thought I'd try it out. It as much better than I ever thought. I love the car, and I'm not someone who loves cars. So fun. Fast and big. Great MPGs.
  2. I do think the car could be tweeked by Ford to do better on a test. I can think of a couple myself on when the battery kicks in, gas and the combined. That being said, I'm at 45.5 at 2000 miles, doesn't change much. My wife drives how she wants, and I drive for MPGs when I think about it. But I believe my wife drives the car incorrectly, she drives it like her Flex, and she's probably at the 37 mpgs like the others with the stiff feet. I think if you drive it like it should be, 47 to 50 is realistic. It requires re-training how to drive. So I think it's different from KIA and Hyundai.
  3. So I'm stuck at 45.5 mpg...around 2000 on the odometer. My wife takes it down a little, I bring it up a little. It could be better but I get tired of thinking too much about the way I'm driving every second. Take a phone call and completely throw things off. Now when I see it sinking, I just bring it back. 45.5...that's my number I guess. I am still learning some different things about driving, definitely some tricks on how to handle hills, mountains, up stretches, down streches. Since I have the same commute everyday, I think I'll be able to maximize the mpg someday as I test out different exceleration points and cruise points...gonna be awhile.
  4. I was at 45.0 mpg on my first fillup. On my second fillup I was at 45.5 mpg. I'm not quite at half-a-tank and my read is 45.7. I can see the engine doing better, reaching more mpgs in gas mode. Many stretches are 40 mpg GAS and the 60+ mpg EV, which wasn't happening when I first drove the car. I am having more cold mornings and that doesn't help things. My odometer is around 1300 right now. I'm happy that the numbers are going up. I'm sure I'd be above 46 if I reset the mpg calculator. Most of this is hwy miles...my commute is 53.7 miles each way. I'll be racking up the miles shortly so I'm happy with 46+. If the gas engine will keep me around 40 mpg, I'll be happy. It's all about working the peddle. By the way, this is not a California vehicle. This is an East Coast vehicle where folks drive less than 65 on the freeway. If you're in California and you want to keep up with traffic (72 to 80 mph or more), I'm thinking it will be hard to get 47 mpg.
