  1. 3M (or similar) Clear Bra is the only way to go. It's pricey, but so worth it. I used to own a MINI Cooper S, notorious for the upright nose, and typically riddled with pock marks after a few years of unprotected driving. I had one put on when I purchased the car new, and it kept the front end pristine for 8 years, when I finally sold it. It doesn't look like an add on at all, keeps the OEM look of the car, and doesn't cause any abrasion issues.
  2. it depends on so much, but I've found that if I'm between 65-70 on a flat highway without much of a headwind, I can get between 40-45 mpg pretty easily. Not sure if altitude has to do with it as well, I'm at about 4500 ft.
  3. I've got the weathertech mats in the passenger area of the car, and the OEM cargo area mat in the back. The weathertech mats are very nice, and look very nice as well. Well worth the price, in my opinion. The mat in the back from Ford is not as high quality, but serves the purpose fine. I think I'll probably eventually get a weathertech for back there as well.
  4. I actually got 630 out of my last tank, but I forgot to take a picture before my wife reset, so the only proof I have is my memory.
  5. Good to hear you got it solved! I haven't heard back from my regional service manager for days, so I'm not sure if she's out on vacation or just really busy. I'm hoping someday she'll call me back and I can get my issues fixed, as they are getting worse now, which is disconcerting.
  6. I think anyone wanting to get into the guts of their car and figure it out/work on it is cool, and more power to you. I, however, would not waste the time and money changing the transmission fluid in this case. CVT's are much different than traditional transmissions, and manufacturing tolerances are tighter than ever. If you do it as a hobby, great. If you're doing it to save your transmission, it's probably not necessary.
  7. That's the problem with a car that wasn't originally designed as a hybrid. It works for me, but I would appreciate more usable storage space.
  8. I was able to take advantage the fact that the car is so misunderstood, as I bought my SE brand new for less than the price of that used SEL. Granted, I have fewer options, but I didn't think the pricier SEL was worth the extra bucks. I'm not a leather seat fan or sunroof fan, though.
  9. Ok, here's my final prior to refueling. I was too scared to go any further once my fuel gauge icon turned red. Maybe I'll be more brave next time and see if I can get to 700.
  10. Looks like I'll be crossing over to the 600 mile realm sometime today. Fun stuff.
  11. Just adding my observations, I see the same thing in my car, wider gap on the passenger side. I would agree that this seems to be normal - I actually asked the dealership to look into it on my first check and they said everything is as it should be.
  12. Thanks, Crystal! I sent you a message. It would be good to get some help, because it seems like the service dept is not very familiar with the C-Max.
  13. I'm going to give the Intro-Tech a shot, there is a lot of real estate on that dashboard, and this should help. They have a promo right now at Auto Anything (link in the first post) where you get 10% off as well as a free side window shade, so there's that as well.
  14. New poster here, but I've had my C-Max since late January of this year. I think mileage is mostly a matter of what terrain you are driving through every day, but habits help as well. My wife tells me I drive like an 80 year old now that my purpose in life is to get a new mileage record with each tank. I don't think I'm that bad, but I do find myself sticking to speed limits in areas that normally I would drift above them. I actually took a picture of my lifetime stats on my dashboard yesterday because I was trying to calculate the savings over the car I replaced (a 2012 Toyota Tacoma) and it says I have a lifetime average MPG of 44.5, which I guess is good compared to what the official numbers state. I'm pumped right now because 100 miles into my current tank I'm at 52.3 MPG. Again, I think that is more a result of my specific drive to work than anything else, but it sure beats the 18 MPG I was getting with the truck every day.
  15. We had a rock hit our windshield on the way home from the dealership and went to get it filled with epoxy. I honestly can't even remember where the crack was now, because I can't see where they filled it. I'm sure that depends on the size of the crack and the skill of the filler, but I've had good experiences with that resolution.
  16. I'm pretty sure that's because the miles to empty is calculated based on the average MPG, which changes all the time. I've noticed that mine varies widely depending on how I'm driving at the time, but it's always just an estimate anyway, so I don't worry too much about it.
  17. I have a similar issue that the dealer has not been able to figure out yet either. It sounds like the rear suspension is crashing, like something is unhinged, clanking around when I hit bumps in the road. It creaks sometimes pretty loudly when I go over speed bumps as well. I've checked underneath the car myself and can't find anything obvious that looks out of place. It really bothers me and makes me question the quality of the car. Otherwise I love it, but this is really bothersome and annoying.
