  1. Well we finally picked up our SEL today.  I have been playing with....er....I mean analyzing all of the available features.   The cell phone link up was amazingly quick.  It started play my playlists with a touch of a button and Pandora was the same, very cool.

One thing I was able to do but not sure of what use it is was to connect to one of my wireless routers.  What will it use the connection for?

  2. I guess We've been real lucky.  Ordered on 12/03/12 VIN and window sticker 12/19/12 and built the day they said it would be built 01/08/13.  The one little glitch is that the delivery was slid 4 days.  Was scheduled for today but now the 02/01/13.  But it is suppose to be in town now at the Kent WA rail yard.

Rachel, I sure hope you get some good news soon.

  3. Absolutely correct Jason.  Lower incomes still need to travel for work and for food on a daily basis.  Asking for high fuel costs to remedy another problem is ignoring possible negative impacts on others not in your same environment or situation.  I read an article where someone was calling for a usage tax on electricity in order to make solar competitive with coal.  Evidently they figured out that a carbon tax was not going to happen. Now someone please tell me how this is a good thing for folks just barely getting by?

  4. Nice one ptjones :happy feet:

Nope, 601.4. I think thus far, we are the only ones breaking this mark for non-Energi CMaxs. Now, the Energis would be an insane distance on 1 tank but thats a totally different fish to fry.

2 threads on the same issues - great minds think alike dude

I think it would depend on what kind of driving your doing as far as the Energi going that much further than the straight hybrid.  Around town your right but on a long road trip I don't think so.  That's one of the reasons we went with the hybrid.  We will be doing some 6,000 mi. road trips and it made sense for us to get the highest long haul mpg we could.

  5. Welcome aboard.  As the reports on mpg are concerned they are all over the place.  There are members here that side with the reports you saw and then there are others that have documented mpg higher than the 47/47/47 Fords advertises.  Our C MAX Hybrid is due to arrive the 2nd of Feb and I have decided to wait and learn how to drive it then make up my own mind.  Not all that concerned myself.

  6. Actually the truth is many owners are getting very good mpg and there are a good number that do not.  To say that the car does not get the advertised mpg is ignoring those owners that say they do.  My thinking is that because there are so many variables in getting the 47 mpg there are some owners that can manage the process and some that can't or won't.  Given the time of year it is and understanding the negative effect low temps have on all hybrids I expect to see lower mpg.  In my state WA every vehicle gets lower mpg hybrid or not because they reformulate the fuel in the winter.  My Tacoma gets 2-3 less mpg in the winter.  I will withhold judgement until the summer driving season.

  7. Tracking threads on Blue Oval used to be restricted to existing members who have established a record of active participation. This may have changed (I joined in 2008) but I believe you can't submit a tracking request until you've been a member and made at least 10 posts. The gentleman who helps the most, on the popular thread, may not respond to a request is from someone who has just joined, and/or anyone who joins and then makes a flurry of posts to meet the 10-post rule.

So, patience is the word I suppose. It may be quicker to contact the inventory manager or new car manager at your dealer.

When asking the new car manager am I asking for the Vehicle Visibility Report?

  8. There are extended warranties available from other sources with comparable coverage for substantially less money than the Ford ESP.

Please note I am not bashing the Ford extended warranty--just noting there are competitors available and at less cost.

The down side to that is these policies are not guaranteed to be accepted by all Fords dealer service departments.   The online Ford ESP is guaranteed to be accepted by all Ford service departments in the U.S. and Canada.  To me that is worth the little bit more you'll pay for the online Ford ESP.

  9. I did the Costco plan and it was supposed to be $300 over invoice.  But the dealer I wanted to use was not in the Costco plan I found out but the sales manager said not only would he match the plan price but beat it by $100 bucks.  That with the trade-in and rebate the deal was fairly good in my opinion.

    Happy Camper

  10. Well the testing results are in and at 70mph I see a net gain of 3mpg at range of temps from 45-70 degrees F. This also seems to carry down to 40mph or so. The covers are not air tight(80-90%) and are easy to install. I used Velcro squares to attach Covers to Grill, it makes it easy to install and remove. The Covers are made of  strong Polycarboneate Plastic that won't shatter and can take fair amount of abuse. They are hardly noticeable unless you look hard. The plan is to remove bottom Cover when temps get into the 70's degrees hwy driving. Remove middle Cover and put New Cover with cut out for radiator opening when in 80's hwy driving. IMPORTANT NOTE: radiator fan comes on when Water Temps reach 215 degrees F and thermosat opens around 195 degrees F.  If there were enough orders for the Covers I could see a price around $50, maybe lower if in the volume was in the hundreds. I'm looking for someone to try out the Covers to see if they get the same results. Will have a picture shortly.

I am highly interested.  Our C Max won't be built until Jan 8th with a delivery date of Jan 28th.  I will be contacting then.

    Thanks for your work.

  11. Hi all.

We ordered our SEL on 12/3.  I have been reading this forum for about a week now and I used the information gleaned from you folks to go back to the dealer for the vehicle order conformation sheet.  Having the order number and the dealer ID number I called Ford directly and they were more than happy to look up the VIN for me.  Worked out great.  The dealer said he had not recieved the VIN yet.  The status as of now is "order processing".

I would like to thank you all for the information you have so generously provided.  Maybe I too can contribute once we have our C Max.

Laurel, we live about 12 miles from Kent WA so I will be tracking a long train ride as well!
