I feel like an idiot. I cannot find the lifetime summary on my 2014 CMax. Can somebody tell me how to access it? It seems like I have gone through all the screens and cannot find it.

I have used it for more that sap. Somebody threw something on my daughters car, and we never knew what it was. She let it back in the son for a month or more. It was all over the fender and part of the hood. I was having trouble getting it off, so I decided to try the dryer sheets, and it worked. So yes, it will work for more than sap. I was amazed how easily it devolved the sap the first time I tried it after I had been struggling for a while to get it off.

The best and easiest way to remove sap is a wet dryer sheet. I have even used one that has already gone through with a load of laundry in the dryer. I found the tip online when I could not easily remove sap some years ago after a camping trip. You will be amazed how well and easily it works. I have used it on paint as well to remove sap and other things that have gotten baked onto a car. I don't know how it works, but it does. No scrubbing, no razor blades, and no pain. I use the ones we get from Costco, but I am sure any of them will work..

My new CMax is not broken in yet, but after 1500 miles, I am very happy. The first Tank I got 42, on the second I got 44, and on my first long trip (over 400 miles) from the SF Bay Area to Southern California, running the AC most of the time, navigating 2 steep grades, and often driving 70mph, I was surprised and thrilled to get 47.4 mpg. I drove it conservatively, trying to avoid fast acceleration, and I tried to keep it under 75mph, though a couple of times I found myself hitting 80mph. I thought for sure with the higher speed limits and the heavy use of A/C that my mileage would go down.

I hardly ever talk to people who know what a CMax is. And when I tell them about it or show it to them, they are all impressed. Even at the new lower EPA rating (and very conservative rating if you drive it right), with the better ride and features, I still think Ford is missing the boat and not marketing it very well. I bought mine because I fell in love with a red one I drove by a year ago, and then did a lot of research on my own. On my second tank, I am getting 44mpg, with lots of short trips and freeway miles mixed in, not the best for mileage, and it is not even broken in. Admittedly I drive it to get good mileage, though I will accelerate faster when there are people behind me... And I am looking forward to my check next month, that I will put towards my 7 year extended warranty..too high tech of a vehicle to risk not having that extra protection.

I love my Ruby Red. My wife never liked the look of the CMax. When I finally convinced her to let me buy one (after I let her by her used Mini), she only saw the red between cars in the lot. When they drove it out to give it to us, she commented that it did not look as bad in red. The red gives it a sport look.... and it is very easy to spot in a parking lot.

I guess there are some bright spots.... my brand new red CMax will not be outdated in a few months.

Oh, and I can often get 50 or 60mpg on some return trips around town.... Although the firth leg while the engine is warming up is a lot lower of course.

With a little under 900 miles on our new CMax. We re getting between 42 and 44 mpg, with more freeway than city, trying to keep it under 70mph, and probably using A/C 30% of the time.. Of course I am pretty much babying it, unless I have cars behind me. I have never had it under 40mpg after I picked it up with 15 miles on it and is showing under 20mpg (heavy foot test drivers, I guess). A lot of my freeway miles are not flat either. I can easily do 70mph on EV,

If anybody is going to try to remove F22 to test it, make sure you know there are more than one F22 fuse. The one listed as active noise cancellation is in the Luggage compartment fuse box (on page 206 of the 2014 CMax owner manual). I was thinking it would be interesting to make a switch and cable going to the fuse box to be able to turn it off and on to see how effective it is.

Like: The $475 gift coming my way from Ford, even though I am seeing about 44mpg on my first 700 miles (improving as I drive..the lowest was around 41 mpg the first tank) ..hoping for better when it is broken in! Dislike: Worrying about high curbs. I worry about the low front bumper or the wheels hitting the curb, as the tire does not give it that much protection to the wheels. I tend to park a little away from the curb so that I do not risk damaging the beautiful wheels.

When I buy cars, I tend to keep them for 10 to 15 years, so resale value for me is not an issue, but for those who do turn them around quicker, I understand being upset. For me it is strictly finances on usage. I bought it hoping to average 40mpg or better (I have never gotten EPA mpg on any car I have ever purchased). If I end up getting a little less and Ford compensates me for the difference, I am OK. I only have about 700 miles on it, but so far I have about 42mpg and I hope it improves as the engine breaks in. Let's hope Ford can get through this, and reliability is better for the 2014's with a lot of the bugs worked out. It would be nice if they lowered the price of the car now that it has lower mileage ratings. I would still buy a CMax, as it has the features and quality I want, but many buyers look only at the price and the MPG, and may not test drive or look at the reviews to see why the CMax is superior to the competition in many ways.

The first time I saw a Cmax, it was a Ruby Red, and it really caught my eye. To me, the car is not the best looking car, but the red, at least to me, makes it look sporty, and a lot better looking. Even my wife, who always felt the CMax was ugly, when they drive our shiny new red car to give us the keys, commented that in red, it look a lot better. She had not really seen it in red except parked between the other new cars. I went with the stone interior, as I felt they would not get as hot as the black in the sun.

I was doing a search on this issue, and I found blogs where people were criticizing Ford for lying about mileage. My take is it does not make any difference. If I bought my Max believing I would get 43 mpg, and I end up getting 40mpg and Ford pays me the difference in gas I will need to use, I break even. I am still getting the same exact savings I was promised. As my cars have never gotten EPA ratings, I went into the purchase calculating I would get 40mpg overall. Without break in, I am already beating that. I suspect I will get or beat EPA mileage when the engine is broken in and I master driving a hybrid. So with the refund, I will probably be way ahead of my panned savings. My hat is off to Ford for admitting a problem and compensating their customers for it. I do not care if it was an accident or on purpose. We the buyers are being fairy compensated in my view.

All I can say is wohoo! My wife did not want me to buy my new 2014 red SEL a few weeks ago. I sure am happy I did not listen to her and wait! With under 700 miles and not broken in, I am getting over 42mpg combined on my second tank. From all I have read, it should get better after it breaks in, and now Ford is going to generously refund me $475. That will cover a third of the cost of the Ford 7 year extended warranty I plan on purchasing this year.

My Red SEL is a little over a week old. it is my first American car I have ever owned, and so far I am loving it. I read all of the tips and watched lots of videos, and they really helped. I am happily getting over 40mpg (90% freeway with about 500 miles on it, at least per the computer....had to add a couple of gallons on the way home, just to be safe, but I should know for sure my mileage when I fill up this week). Even my wife, with a little coaching, was getting well over 40mpg on the freeway! (the one who said I was nuts to buy the car, but commented on the trip yesterday how nice it is to drive and how quiet it is). I cannot wait to see what mileage we will get when the engine is broken in! I did not expect to be getting the EPA mileage right off the bat, but when I consider the mix of Freeway, am probably beating it. I really found the Eco cruise helped a lot, but it cannot be used all the time with crazy CA drivers, especially when the traffic gets heavy. I have been very gentle on it and have not tested how much power it has, as I want to baby it at least for the first 1000 miles of break in. Enjoy your new toy. I know I sure am!

I understand that the A4 was probably the current map SD when my car was built, but it would be nice if Ford had some kind of policy or method for a brand new owner to upgrade to the current maps when the car is purchased without having to pay so much.

I tend to feel the same way. I just picked up my Cmax on Saturday, and I am pretty sure it has an A4 SD in it, even though the A5 is the current level

On the touch screen being a fingerprint magnet. I ordered a Lexerd screen protector through amazon. I just got it and I will try to install it. I read in a forum that somebody used one and it helped a lot with fingerprints. As it is resistive touch with a plastic screen, and the way the screen sits back, it is easy to hit it with fingernails, so I thought a screen protector would be a good idea to help protect it and to cut down on fingerprints.

Where did you get the A5 card. I just purchased my CMax on Saturday, and I am not happy if it did not come with the latest map SD. I believe mine is A4.

Sounds like my wife. For months she has been saying I was crazy for wanting a CMax. After she got her dream car, a used Mini Cooper S, she softened to me getting a car, though she still could not see why I would buy a new car. I finally wore her down and dragged her to a dealer last Saturday and we negotiated down to a few hundred hundred under invoice. It was easy getting to invoice, as that was real close to the Costco price. The other few hundred took a little more work. When we threatened to leave and think about it, they met our offer. All in all, once we started talking price, it only took us 10 or 15 minutes. I drove out with a shiny red SEL with the 302 package. The rear view camera and auto rear gate were not necessary, but I figured with spending that much and 5 years no interest, what the heck, and I really am liking the features. And the funny part is my wife has been in a friends CMax a lot of times, but never driven it. She did not like the looks and did not think it was anything special. When we got home, I had her drive it around the neighborhood, and she was surprised how well it drove. She was even justifying the price to her parents after the gas savings, when 3 days before she was bad mouthing the price. And the red color actually makes the shape of the car acceptable to her. I am loving it. I only test drove it for 10 minutes, but trusted all of the many reviews I read and watched. After driving it for a few days, it drives as good or better than I had hoped. As most 2014's have probably been purchased in the last 4 or 5 months, when you combine engines not broken in and new owners who have not perfected their hybrid driving skills, that could explain why no 2014's have been listed yet.

The 2013's on the lots are getting some pretty good discounts and Ford rebates, so you may be able to find a base model close to 20k, but not out the door with tax an liscence, and you may even get one of the no interest loans like I just got on my 2014 if you wanted to spend a little more. I agree with the comment I would be concerned about why somebody would sell a new hybrid after a year. It could be because it just did not fit the customer's situation, or it could be because it was not getting good mileage.

Just purchased our Ruby Red SEL Cmax on Saturday. The first time I saw a red Cmax a year ago, it was love at first sight, and I had to find out more about it. Doing all of my research (much of it on this great site and searching out every review I could find), I knew I wanted one for the good mileage, great ride, and type of car. With almost 40 years driving, I have only owned one car with a trunk. My wife has been fighting getting one for the whole time. She kept complaining about the looks and the price. She finally gave in (I wore her down!), and when she drove it around the block after we got home, that is all it took. I think she was surprised on how it drove. A co-worker has one and has driven her to work many times, and she was never impressed, but she never drove one. I love how it drives and wanted a car that could get good mileage (tired of the 20 MPG of our MPV van) and that would be comfortable on a long drive, and the CMax fit that bill. My wife even agrees with me that the red color actually makes the shape of the car look a lot nicer. In one day of ownership, she has gone from complaining about it to justifying the price to her parents. I have only driven 70 miles or so, 50 of them on the freeway (with low A/C on), but so far have seen MPG of between 42 and 44 MPG. I have been driving it very conservatively it and driving like an annoying Hybrid owner, but for a car with no break in, I am thrilled, hoping to maintain that MPG and see it increase as the engine breaks in. I could not be more happy with how it drives, how quiet it is, and all of the features... even without knowing how to use all of the features, so far I have even enjoyed all of the much aligned Ford Touch. I will by buying an extended warranty at some point..... way too much hi tech that can go bad, and I know if something breaks, it will be expensive.
