Ford C-max least reliable car in America (Says CR)
Rick replied to Seth7721's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
Yesterday, I gave up leather and heated seats, a better ride, 110 outlet, and other nice features loaded on the SEL C-max, and purchased a Prius V. My first non American car ever, in 40 years of driving. Hope all our cars keep rolling. -

Decided to pull the trigger late, last night, and buy base SEL. Went into dealer, (terrific dealer and great sales guy!!!) checkbook in hand. Our definitions of great month-end-deal (July 31) ended up being $400 apart. I left dealership at closing (without new car) to ponder. Today I'm reading this whole thread, (had read just 3 entries before). So this forum is reliable, well laid out, with great participation and helping tips. I give it a 10 out of 10 ! Stuff happens, think I'll wait n watch a bit more then. Thanking you all again.

With 20,000 plus parts, sensors, additional "hybrid" computer code, it really does seem to be luck of the draw. Also, in IT, large software programs have a stage called (POC) Proof of concept. Where the vender/cust work together to get the software (can take months/years) to a point where it is 99% error free, and then can be implemented. Thought of this reading your comment Crystal... "get concrete data into the hands of our engineering team. Info that is collected at the dealership level is how they discover common issues; from there, they can determine if there's any commonalities among affected vehicles and come up with a solution that will help everyone." Hope they can determine this battery issue for you c-max traveler (edit) and others soon!! COULD THE BRAND OF BATTERY BE INCOMPATIBLE WITH OTHER COMPONENTS of C-MAX?

Dmitriy ..... I hope your "won't start" never happens again, for another 10 years. Hi Crystal .... it's nice to meet you. I'm buying a car, would like it to be your C-max, great car the 3 times I drove it. A combined 40MPG would be wonderful !! Imagine that comes close to what your Model T gets. :) Can you please offer any plans that Ford and/or it's dealerships have, to turn, help a car shopper with reliability concerns after the 3/36k warranty expires on the C-max? For example, remember when Hyundai extended their warranties to win customers over and build some consumer trust? Car stuff happens, and I know repair costs are a revenue stream for Ford, but can you help an oversized true blue american? Thanks!!

WILL there be a 2015 C-Max Hybrid? a) Every search I do on 2015, either comes up blank, or ultimately states that the content/image really refers to the 2013 or 2014. b) At FORD site, any research indexing, lists this for 2015s ..... (below) What's missing? C-Max c) it's too early to get ANY info for 2015 C-max d) I'm missing "it" (not the first time) My apologies in advance :hat_tip:for my oversight. What 2015 vehicle are you driving?E-150 E-250 E-350 E-450 Explorer F-250 F-350 F-450 F-550 Fiesta Fusion Fusion Energi Fusion Hybrid Taurus Transit Transit Connect

Scott ... an SE under 20k may happen. Just rec'd an offer for SEL for 23,600. Would imagine they'll bump the rebate up next time as well. And I'm not sure how dealers can have 2013 s and 2014s??? Aren't 2015s out in 60 days?

Ford C-max least reliable car in America (Says CR)
Rick replied to Seth7721's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
" This was the first American car to take on Toyota ." Ford deserves some credit for this. Shame on US car manufacturers for rejecting efficient energy transportation for so long. So they/we need to catch up. I'm sure CR noted that the Toyota Prius had its reliability problems back in model years 1,2 and 3 as well. Will the Ford dealers support their customers as Ford goes through this learning phase? Hope so. -
Haven't pulled trigger yet. Appreciate your post and ALL the others in this forum! 2 thoughts ... - The first 2 months, is there a recommended "break-in" period? Restrictions? ie Don't drive over 60 mph for 1,000 miles, or yada, yada ? I need to take a 800 mile trip with car loaded soon. - LOL, I brought an 8G SD card with me for the test drive, and discovered what you did. No great menu/playlists, but it works! Like the shuffling. My question is, is it the same for the USB too? And ...... can you switch 2 SD cards in and out. 1 SD for music, 1 SD with MAP info ($50 eBay) for navigating when needed. Glad you are enjoying your decision on C-max, thanks!!!

2014 Base SEL offered at $24,300 includes $1,500 rebate. Getting there.... glad I only do this every 11 years. :) CMAX - Better Cabin, better ride PRIUS V - will probably be standing longer, with less repairs Thanks again for all your input, I appreciate it.

I do not have a desire to change a flat either Kelleytoons. "btw: is there a video on the tire fix kit thing?" https://owner.ford.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Owner/Page/OwnerVideoPage&year=2014&make=Ford&model=C-MAX%20Hybrid Then CLICK on "TIRE MOBILITY KIT"

I appreciate both the original post, and the owners defending their purchase decision to buy a C-Max. Believe it's good for everyone ultimately. In the market for a car, the C-Max is great! The few humps are ..... the no spare tire / battery /reliability ratings / the fact that it's newer to the Hybrid game. (vs Toyota) I don't JUST drive 8-5 in the city and burbs, and have had to change a few flats, one at midnight on a "lonely" hwy, lol. I cursed, but it now sounds better than ...... praying for cell service, making some emergency phones calls, recordings, re-directs, and waiting for emerg service guy. Then how much will a tire run you in that situation IF anything is open? Thanks for all the info! Regardless of above, I'm still interested in C-Max. :) btw: is there a video on the tire fix kit thing?

I'm in the same boat. 2014 or 2015? C-Max or Prius V? (another thread I'm sure) Thanks for all your input, and Plus 3 Golfer, using your logic (I agree) .... 2014 C-Max SEL for 28,400 MSRP less 5,000 = $23,400* ... would WORK for me. I see them in the 24,000s now. That includes 2 rebates, one REBATE that REQUIRES FORD CREDIT STANDARD RATE FINANCING * That * is a big * to me. I do not want to finance @ 6% to get the $1,000 rebate. Dealer claims, I can pay it off in 3-4 months ??? So that's not really a $1000 rebate, it's less, and could be really LESS, if any loan fees are snuck in on top of the interest. Minimum loan can be $8,000 I guess ???? Always something fishy with a car deal, LOL. 2015 PRO - maybe they tweak the MyTouch, and resolve DEAD battery issue - CON have to wait till next July for any discounts, unless they come out discounted to pick sales up after bad press. Thanks
