I'm gonna laugh like heck at you guys when you run your gas tank down to E and go those "extra" miles to get to the "magic mileage club" and then think you can get gas at some station just as Mother Nature does a number on you: Earthquake, lightning strike, tornado, or some disaster comes along and you cannot fill up at a station because the power is out to fill up your empty baby, and you don't have enough to get home or ANYWHERE because it affects pumping over a wide area, AND/OR an earthquake hits and destroys bridges between you and wherever you need to go, so you have to take ALTERNATE routes to get to where you need to go, which will take longer. So, fellow Hybrid babies, just WHAT is your alternate plan?

It all comes down to BS.....That's Big Story (from Ford)

Marc - You want to "stab the gas and make the car go"? Buy a Chevy Camaro, or better yet, buy a Chevy Camaro from the muscle car era of the late 60's and early 70's. I have to keep telling myself that we are not in that era anymore and if I had a v-8, I would get myself in trouble TOO many times, like I did back in the 60's with my 318 Dodge. Nope, I was satisified with my Escape Hybrid as per acceleration capabilities, my (current) Focus as per ITS acceleration capabilities, and when test driving both the C-Max and Fusion Hybrid I was satisfied with both of their acceleration capabilities. I no longer need to "smoke the tires" thru the gears nor screech from a standing stop like I did back in the "era", and since I have grown up to be a big boy, I will be more satisfied with gas mileage and peppy acceleration (when I need that), than I will with Jack rabbit starts and beating someone across the intersection to the other side of the crosswalk. Thank you very much! Ger - The Southern California Connection

OF COURSE he drilled a hole in his C-Max! Where ELSE are you going to mount an antenna? And I saw a call sign that was N1BM. Phonetically (and I am sure he has heard this before) that's Number 1 Bowel Movement. Too bad he is not in "2" Country. Ger (AKA KF6PHV)

Since I am a licensed ham, I always connect a heavy duty cable to my 12v battery for power to the vhf/uhf radio, no matter if it is a regular car or a hybrid car. Has anyone noticed a easy way to get from the battery thru or around the firewall to the area under the seat, where I will have the main body of the unit placed? The vhf/uhf unit has a remote head so I can place that atop the dash (or perhaps somewhere easy to see and change channels, etc. I wonder if the Tilt wheel can drop down enough to place the remote head between the shaft of the steering wheel and the bottom of the dash (roughly about a hair under two inches in thickness and roughly 6 inches wide) and then I can route the cable from that to the main unit under the dash. That is where I have the roemote head mounted in my Focus; between the wheel and the bottom of the dash. Comments?

Sure, and for the same reason that you can still get a v/8 in something just so you can smoke the tires from a stop, and chirp them as you go thru the gears!

So, you have it locked, thinking you are secure. A cat comes along, runs under your rear bumper, changes his mind and runs back under your bumper, and "VIOLA!", you have an unlocked, open car, just primed for anyone who diddy bops by to say, "Well now, what a bitchen' car!" and decides to put the five finger discount on all the goodies you have "securely" locked in the hatch. So, I think (when I get mine) I'll just disengage/shut off/disable my auto truck unlock. Thanks, dude. Ger

What color do you perfer?
BoomerGer replied to mightydog's topic in Appearance: Detailing, Wash & Wax
Can I get one in Orange? If so, I might name it "Psychotic Pumpkin"! Of course, if I placed a flaming decal of a color that would clash with it, I might refer to it as the "Flaming Pumpkin"! After all, back in 2003, when the first Honda Element came out, and I bought one (even though I hated that ugly box at first) in Blue, I placed a orange/red fireball decal along the beltline and referred to it as the "Flaming Box", and even joined the Honda Element Owners Club and posted as "Owner of the Flaming Box". Watch out, I might add that addendum to my signature once I purchase a white one and add something to make it standout. "The Flaming Max", maybe? Ger (Former owner of the Flaming Box) -

How about a decal on the body, like and orange/red fireball from front to back? :worship: -
So about 2 years ago, I bought my Focus at Carmax. Got a better than I thought trade in on my '07 Escape Hybrid (Better than what a new car dealer would have given me on a new Honda Fit). Found my Focus, used the trade in dough for a down on the Focus, plus a few more bucks to make the down payment a little beefier. Like the Focus, but the suspension is a little harsh going over RR tracks, speed bumps, and related rough street potholes, and there is wind noise as if there is a window slightly cracked open. No problems. But would one trust a C-Max from Carmax? I think so, but I would get one with low mileage and the newest year available, then that would be better. Plus the people I dealt with were very accomodating all thru the purchasing of the Focus, and there was no pushiness to do this or that. I got a five year limit on my payments with low payments but I paid it off in 2 years. So again, the question is, have any of you ever dealt with Carmax in buying ANYTHING, and, Would you buy a C-Max from Carmax? Ger

Check out Autoanything.com this is a website that carries Curt brand hitches and wiring harnesses for 2014 (and maybe '15?) C-Max's. I found one for my Focus at the same location, but U-Haul has a better group of people who will install it for you. Ger

Greetings! So you all need to know who I am and where I am coming from, huh? Okay, I am Ger, which is half of Gerald, but I prefer Ger and do not growl at me! I can always tell when people I meet for the first time have been online and call me "Grrrr"! I'm married (for over 40 years!) and retired (from a County business for 40 years, as well!) I drive a '12 Focus and formerly owned a '07 Escape Hybrid. I live in So Ca and have all my life. I'm getting more serious about purchasing a C-Max, and joining this forum might help me out. I'll be checking around various threads and you'll see me from time to time asking questions and making comments. SEEE ya! Ger "BoomerGer" Brassfield The Southern Cal Connection
